Question 👉 In nigeria, can a judge ask defendant to open a defence on terrorism related charges without reading out a written law of which the court is trying him?

Answer: 👇

In Nigeria, a judge cannot compel a defendant to present a defense against terrorism-related charges without first stating the written law that governs the trial. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), specifically Section 36(12), stipulates that no one can be convicted of a criminal offense unless it is defined and the punishment is laid out in a written law.

The Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, serves as the main legal framework for terrorism-related offenses in Nigeria, with Section 11 detailing various crimes such as attacks on internationally protected persons, hostage-taking, and kidnapping.

In the situation involving Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the Federal High Court in Abuja has been urging him to open his defense regarding the terrorism charges. Kanu, however, has refused, asserting that the charges are not valid and that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act has been repealed.

Judges are required to ensure that defendants are informed of the charges and the relevant law under which they are being tried. Asking a defendant to open a defense without first reading the written law would breach their right to a fair trial and contravene the principles of natural justice.

So Yoruba have their monarchs in Igbo regions, and whenever they hear the term "Eze Igbo" in Lagos, they react loudly like rowdy people!

On Saturday, November 8th, the Yoruba Community in Aba celebrated a vibrant "Yoruba Day" at Chrismarry Hotel, Uratta Junction, Aba, Abia State.

Oba Oladeji Musibau Ajadi, who is the ceremonial Oba of the Yoruba Community in Imo State, and Oba Abdul Azeez Adebayo Olateju (Olorunmoba 1), the ceremonial Oba of the Yoruba Community in Enugu, were present to celebrate the occasion.

Lieutenant AM Yerima, serving under retired General AZ Gambo, is a man of authority whose duty is to follow orders diligently. Despite being blameless, a swift attempt by Wike to influence the Chief of Defense Staff to intervene was met with Lt AM Yerima's steadfast commitment to his orders, as he respects the hierarchy within the army. Other senior officers are supporting him due to this principle. The Chief of Defense Staff reassured Lt AM Yerima to uphold law and order, dismissing any need for interference. Interestingly, it was the FCT Minister who fled the scene, as the army only takes commands from the President of Nigeria, not civilian authorities. The writer criticizes educated individuals for being swayed by partisan politics, clouding their judgment.

Breaking News: Buratai Urges Wike to Issue a Public Apology to the Nigerian Army for Verbally Attacking a Soldier in Uniform

The former Chief of Army Staff, Retired Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has released a strongly worded statement demanding swift measures be taken against the behavior of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, who verbally abused a military officer in uniform.

The Chief of Defence Staff has responded to an altercation between a soldier and the FCT Minister today.

The Nigerian Defence Academy fosters assertive officers, and the officer's response showcased exemplary composure and emotional intelligence, vital to military leadership training. His ability to remain calm, firm, and respectful under verbal provocation demonstrates discipline and professionalism. However, it is unfortunate and inappropriate for a federal minister to use such language toward a serving officer of the Armed Forces. Public officials should model civility and restraint, especially when addressing those in uniform who embody national service and sacrifice."General O. Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff.

When he repeatedly declared, "I am not a fool, sir," it sent shivers down my spine, and I believe Wike felt the same way. In a nation where politicians often treat citizens as fools by abusing power without facing consequences, his words came as a powerful and unexpected rebuke. It wasn't just about him or Wike; he was speaking on behalf of all of us, reminding politicians that we are aware of their actions and that we are not fools.
Watching that video filled my heart with emotion.
May Officer A.M. Yerima be blessed, and may the Federal Republic of Nigeria be blessed as well.

Justice James Omotosho: The Lying Judge Who Just Declared War On Justice In Nigeria.

Donald J. Trump Ted Cruz Senator Ted Cruz

“When justice becomes a weapon, resistance becomes a duty; and Family Writers Press International will never be silent!”

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court Abuja has shamelessly issued an unlawful ultimatum to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, demanding that he begins his defense within two days or risk being jailed after November 7th. What a disgrace! What a judicial embarrassment!

Let the world hear it loud and clear, Justice Omotosho is lying through his black robe! There is no law in Nigeria, or anywhere in the world, that empowers a judge to jail a man who has not been convicted of any crime. Before anyone is jailed, there must first be a conviction based on proven guilt.

So, we ask again, and we will keep asking: What crime did Nnamdi Kanu commit? Can this so-called Justice Omotosho point to a single section of the law that the IPOB leader has violated? He cannot, because there is none!

Instead of upholding justice, Omotosho has turned his courtroom into a political theatre, dancing to the drumbeat of a corrupt system that fears the truth Nnamdi Kanu represents. He has abandoned the sacred duty of a judge and picked up the filthy garment of a government errand boy.

This nonsense must stop! If by the expiration of his shameless ultimatum he fails to show the law under which he’s threatening Nnamdi Kanu, then Omotosho himself stands guilty before the law and before humanity. He deserves to be the one behind bars for abusing the bench, violating his oath, and disgracing the judiciary.

The world must take note: this is not justice, this is judicial terrorism, weaponized to silence truth. And when judges become tools of oppression, the pen of truth must rise against them.

To the International Community:
The world cannot continue to fold its arms while Nigeria’s judiciary is turned into a slaughterhouse of justice. The illegal persecution of Nnamdi Kanu must not go unchecked. We call on the United Nations, the International Criminal Court, and every voice of freedom across the globe to take notice, that a man is being threatened with imprisonment not for a crime, but for demanding justice, liberty, and truth.

We don’t just write, we expose. We don’t fear, we fight.

🔺 BREAKING NEWS!!! 🔺

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Speaks Boldly In Court Today 👇🏻

> “Before this court, you must surmount the legal thresholds I have raised prior to requesting that I proceed with my defense. You cannot ask me to open my defense when you are unable to specify under which law I am being charged. A review of the records from this court reveals that there is no law supporting the charges against me. Consequently, I request that this court release me. Your Lordship, I implore you to take judicial notice of all records within this court.”

🔥 Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu once again exposes the illegality and lawlessness of the Nigerian judicial system right inside the courtroom — reminding the world that he’s being held without any legal foundation.
