HERBAL TONIC FOR BROILERS

Poultry farming is one of the most rewarding businesses today, but keeping birds healthy can sometimes be a real challenge. Issues like cough, catarrh, poor digestion, slow growth, and weak immunity often reduce performance and profits.

Instead of depending only on commercial medicines, many farmers are returning to nature by using simple, natural herbs that are safe, affordable, and highly effective. This herbal tonic is one of the best natural remedies you can prepare right from your farm to keep your broilers strong and productive.

---

1. GETTING STARTED

Before you begin, make sure all your ingredients are fresh and clean. Herbs contain natural oils and nutrients that boost digestion, strengthen immunity, and fight infections β€” but they work best when fresh.

Always use clean utensils and water to maintain hygiene. Natural remedies work gradually but powerfully when used regularly.

---

2. INGREDIENTS AND THEIR NATURAL BENEFITS

Ginger (4 thumb-size pieces): Improves appetite, digestion, and blood circulation.

Cayenne Pepper (4 fingers): Clears the respiratory tract and supports faster growth.

Garlic (4 cloves): Acts as a natural antibiotic to fight infections and boost immunity.

Cinnamon (2 sticks): Helps digestion and reduces harmful gut bacteria.

Turmeric (2 thumb-size pieces): Cleanses the liver and improves feed efficiency.

Bitter Kola (2 nuts): Strengthens the immune system and increases energy levels.

When combined, these herbs work together to create a powerful natural protection system for your birds β€” safe and effective without chemical residues.

---

3. PREPARATION STEPS

1. Wash all the ingredients thoroughly to remove dirt and dust.

2. Pound or blend them and add into one liter of clean water.

3. Allow the mixture to sit for a few hours so the nutrients can infuse well.

4. Sieve and store the liquid in a clean bottle or container.

You can refrigerate the tonic to keep it fresh for longer, but always shake it well before use.

---

4. DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Mix 100ml of the tonic with 4 liters of drinking water.

Give to your broilers two to three times a week.

Use consistently for best results.

This herbal blend helps prevent respiratory problems, digestive issues, slow growth, and weak immunity. It keeps the birds active, healthy, and improves overall farm performance.

---

5. EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENCE

Farmers who use this herbal tonic regularly report:

Lower disease and mortality rates.

Faster growth and better feed conversion.

Stronger, more energetic birds ready for market.

Nature provides everything we need to succeed in farming. The key is to use it wisely and consistently.

I used to believe agriculture was meant only for the old, the uneducated, or those who didn’t mind getting their hands dirty. As a child, I dreamed of a life behind a desk β€” clean, comfortable, and far from the fields.

But life has a funny way of teaching us. Today, I’m proud to be part of a new generation rewriting that story β€” proving that agriculture is not a last resort, but a field of innovation, opportunity, and pride. 🌱

We’re changing the narrative β€” showing that farming isn’t about struggle, it’s about purpose, creativity, and growth. Let’s keep inspiring young people to see value in both the office and the farm, because the future of food, and of our planet, depends on it. πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎπŸ“πŸ₯š

Hiring a relative to work in your farming business can be a great idea, but it's important to make sure you're paying them fairly. Overpaying or underpaying them just because they're family members can cause problems.

If you underpay them, it could strain your relationship and they might even end up stealing from you. On the other hand, overpaying them could hurt your business financially. It's all about finding the right balance and treating them like any other employee.

There is money everywhere.
You’re just not trained to see it.
Your poverty is not your enemy, your mindset is.

You don’t have to start big.
You don’t even have to do the dirty part.
Just start. Sister, just start something.

Organize people. Supervise. Sell. Repeat.

Rainy season presents unique challenges to poultry farmers, especially in tropical regions. If not properly managed, it can lead to disease outbreaks, reduced productivity, increased mortality, and economic losses.

Below are the major challenges of poultry farming during the rainy season, along with practical explanations:

🌧 Rainy Season Challenges in Poultry Farming

1. Increased Humidity and Dampness
* Problem: High humidity leads to wet litter, mold growth, and ammonia buildup.
* Effect: Respiratory issues like CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease), coccidiosis, and footpad dermatitis.
* Solution: Regularly change and turn litter. Use absorbent materials like wood shavings and apply lime underneath to reduce moisture.

2. Poor Ventilation
* Problem: Farmers often close windows and vents to avoid cold drafts or rain splashes.
* Effect: Buildup of ammonia gas, heat stress, and spread of airborne diseases.
* Solution: Maintain airflow using raised side curtains, vents, or fans while preventing direct rain entry.

3. Disease Outbreaks
- Common Diseases:
* Coccidiosis (due to wet litter)
* E. coli and Salmonella (due to contaminated water/feed)
* Fowl cholera, Newcastle Disease, Mycoplasmas
- Cause: Pathogens thrive in moist and muddy conditions.
- Solution: Strengthen vaccination programs, use preventive antibiotics, maintain hygiene.

4. Contaminated Feed and Water:
* Problem: Exposure of feed to moisture causes mold growth, leading to aflatoxicosis.
* Effect: Reduced appetite, liver damage, poor growth, and low egg production.
* Solution: Store feed in dry, raised platforms. Clean and flush water lines regularly. Use antifungal binders like toxin binders in feed.

5. Flooding and Poor Drainage:
* Problem: Flooded poultry pens and surroundings.
* Effect: Soaked litter, drowned chicks, stress, and spread of water-borne diseases.
* Solution: Elevate poultry houses, build drainage channels, and raise feeders/drinkers above ground.

6. Cold Stress in Chicks:
* Problem: Chicks get chilled due to lower night temperatures and damp conditions.
* Effect: Slow growth, high mortality, and susceptibility to infections.
* Solution: Use effective brooding methods like charcoal stoves, gas brooders, or bulbs with temperature monitoring.

7. Reduced Feed Intake:
* Problem: Cold, wet weather reduces birds’ appetite.
* Effect: Poor weight gain in broilers and drop in egg production in layers.
* Solution: Offer feed during warmer hours of the day. Supplement with energy boosters (molasses, glucose, or maize meal).

8. Parasite Infestation:
* Problem: Wet conditions increase the presence of external parasites like lice, mites, and ticks.
* Effect: Stress, anemia, and reduced productivity.
* Solution: Rotate between organic and synthetic delousers.

9. Increased Rodent and Predator Activity:
* Problem: Rodents seek shelter in poultry pens during rains.
* Effect: Feed theft, disease spread (e.g., leptospirosis), egg destruction.
* Solution: Seal holes, use traps, raise feed storage, and maintain general cleanliness.

10. Transportation and Market Access Issues:
* Problem: Poor roads and heavy rains hinder supply of feed, vaccines, and sales.
* Effect: Production cost increases and delayed marketing of birds or eggs.
* Solution: Stockpile essentials before peak rains. Arrange early sales and maintain contact with transporters.

βœ… Proactive Tips for Rainy Season Poultry Success
* Raise pen floors and walkways above ground level.
* Install plastic roofing sheets and guttering systems to redirect rainwater.
* Use tarpaulin curtains to prevent rain splash into the pens.
* Keep vitamin C, multivitamins, liver tonic, and calcium supplements handy.
* Monitor birds daily and isolate sick ones immediately.

WHY SOME POULTRY CHICKEN πŸ” FARMER'S FAILED AND THEY COMPLAINED ABOUT POULTRY πŸ”:

Poultry chicken farming is an art that needs many role players as well as many different management procedures, which form part of a successful poultry enterprise.

If the role players or management procedures are incorrect the poultry farmer is bound to fail.

Due to the increasing demand of chicken meat and eggs and also quest for self employment, many people are interested in turning their career into the poultry farming with mixed results. Some have succeeded while due to the poor planning, many have failed....

Below are some of the major reasons some poultry chicken farmers fail:

1. Insufficient knowledge (lack of know-how):
Most rush to farming after seeing their neighbors results. They don’t take their time to learn about important farm requirements, market dynamics, demand and supply curves!

If you are a poultry chicken farmer and would like to turn your poultry farm into an agri-business
Then follow for more poultry farming tips

2. Lack of persistence:
Most people want instant gratification.
They want to be millionaires overnight.
They don’t want to face management, disease challenges or market challenges!
All they want is more and more profits in just a few months.

I am sorry to burst your bubble but farming doesn’t work that way. You’ve got to toil and sweat and work smart. Nothing comes easily.

3. High cost of feeds and poultry equipment:
This has been a pain in the neck! The cost of production has gone over the roof in recent times due to this. We always advise farmers to use creativity and improvise these things e.g buckets in place of drinkers and feeders. Proper feeding management without any wastage is also very important....

4. Insufficient knowledge on marketing:
This is demoralizing at the same time heart breaking. It's important that you learn the skill of agri-marketing! We have a very powerful PDF guide book which you can order from us to help you with this challenge!!

5. Not working with farming professionals:
Some farmers do trial and error in their ventures instead of consulting with professional agronomists, vets etc!
Due to this they are unable to fight challenges in the farm e.g diseases and they really lose a lot.

6. Disease outbreaks:
A very serious problems due to insufficient knowledge on disease managenent.
Most farmers don’t follow strict vaccination programmes and biosecurity therefore the birds end up dying or being unproductive!

7. Middle-men and brokers:
These are a double-edged sword for lack of a better word. Some are good while others are outright selfish. Some can be farmer’s worst nightmare as they can take the highest profit share from your produce because they have proper market knowledge! They promise you heaven but give you hell.

It's therefore important for you to do a market research and know what kind of market you are dealing with!!!

8. Wrongly advised farmers:
Have you ever heard of this story of a new farmer who was advised by a fellow farmer to give her pullets cow feed and other animals meal in order for her hens to start laying early?
The birds matured but even at 7 months none had started laying! 😳

If you don’t want to consult a professional or a successful farmer in your area of interest, you might end up in serious losses!!
