Sarjo Baldeh has touched down in Uganda πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬ joining delegates from 30 countries including the Gambia πŸ‡¬πŸ‡² for the African Women in Sports Summit 2025.

What makes Sarjo’s story unique is that she never planned this path. She actually studied construction but somewhere along the way, she discovered a love she couldn’t ignore which is taking pictures. Little did she know that this simple hobby would open doors she never imagined.

Her breakthrough came during the 2021 AFCON, when a photo of the little girl with the big lens from the Gambia πŸ‡¬πŸ‡² went viral across Africa and beyond. That single moment showed the world her passion, confidence and talent.

And today, that same young Gambian female photographer is not just attending the summit but she is going to serve as a speaker on the topic Responsible Reporting, Technology Use & Representation of Women in Sports.

A moment for her to represent women and her country with pride and proving that passion can create opportunities far beyond what we dream.

A Gambian girl in Uganda standing on a continental stage with a journey in sports leadership while doing what she loves which is sports photography.
