President Adama Barrow, in a national address delivered Monday evening, focused on the recent wave of protests and the death of Omar Badjie, which has drawn widespread public concern.
The president began by extending condolences to the bereaved family and acknowledged the grief felt across the nation. He reaffirmed the constitutional right of citizens to engage in peaceful protest, but cautioned that any resort to violence would be addressed in line with the law.
Barrow further urged the security services to conduct themselves with professionalism, stressing the need to safeguard the rights and dignity of all citizens while maintaining order. He emphasized that accountability and restraint must guide both the public and the authorities during this period of heightened tension.
