Latrikunda German Upper Basic School girls are the champions of Gambia School Football Association’s Annual National Football Championship in Jarra Soma. The champions beat the debutants Abuko upper Basic school girls, who make it to the final in their first appearance. The gane ends in a shootout with a scoreline on 3.2 in favour of Lk German, a team that won it last year but were later stripped off later after an appeal of filling in an ineligible player. The Lk German girls came back stronger and win it for themselves once again, and this time no formal complain.

PENYEM UPPER BASIC SCHOOL BOYS are the winners of Gambia School Football Association’s Annual National Football Championship, happening at Jarra Soma. The boys face the defending champions Sukuta upper Basic school, who came to the final without loosing a single game and not even conceded a single goal. But sukuta came from behind to level the score after an early lead by PENYEM. The game ends in a shootout in favour of Penyem.

SCHOOLS FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP REACHES SEMI-FINALS

The defending champions, *Sukuta Upper Basic School boys*, are through to the semi-finals after winning all their group games and knockout match. That makes it four wins from four so far.

Joining them is Demba K***a UBS from URR, who booked their semi-final spot with a convincing 3-0 victory over Yalding.

There was also plenty of drama in the match between *Sittanunku and Sunchu Balliya UBS*. Sittanunku led 2-0, but Sunchu Balliya scored two late equalizers in the final five minutes to level the game and force penalties. Sunchu Balliya held their nerve to advance.

The final quarter-final was an all West Coast derby. *Penyem UBS* came out on top with a 3-0 win over Faraba Banta to seal their place in the last four.

*Girls*
- *St AIDAN’S UBS* defeated *Bakalarr UBS*. It was a tough outing for Bakalarr, who had also lost their opening game to *St Vincent de Paul*.

*Boys*
- *Njoren* and *Abuko* played to a goalless draw.
- *YALDING UBS* beat *Buduok UBS* 2-0.
- *Demba K***a* beat *Penyem* 4-0.
- *Sunchu Balliya* edged *Njoren* 1-0.
- Defending champions *Sukuta* beat *Sittanunku UBS* to record their second consecutive win.
- *Serekunda UBS* vs *Faraba Bantang* is still ongoing. With Serekunda leading by a goal to nil.

Upper Basic boys’ and girls’ teams from all regions are currently competing for national honours. The championship will run for four consecutive days.

KITTY AND SIFOE WINS THEIR SENIOR MISSION TOURNAMENT GAMES

The ongoing mission football tournament at Kombo South continues on Tuesday at gunjur nyamina mini stadium. The first was between kitty and sandally, and kitty won through penaltyshootout.

In the late afternoon gane, berending entertained sifoe and sifoe equally beat them through kicks.
