Did you know that Dembo Darboe is still the last player born in Brikama to represent the Gambia senior men’s national team? He earned his senior caps during one of the most exciting periods in Gambian football, and since then, no other Brikama born player has broken into the senior Scorpions squad.

Brikama has always been known as a football town. We have talent in every neighborhood, passionate fans, and young players with dreams of wearing the national jersey. So why are we not seeing more Brikama born players making it to the senior national team?

Is it a lack of opportunities? Better scouting elsewhere? Or do our young players need more guidance, discipline, and support to reach the highest level?

The good thing is that the talent is still there. With the right development, hard work, and exposure, I’m confident the next Scorpion from Brikama is only a matter of time.
