RE: RESURGENCE OF TERROR ATTACKS AND ETHNIC CLEANSING AGAINST THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES OF BOKKOS LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF PLATEAU STATE NIGERIA
It has come to our notice the baseless allegation purported by a group parading themselves as BOKKOS CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (BCDC) VANGUARD on the unfortunate and barbaric attack by unpatriotic and mischievous elements on innocent people at Daffo in Bokkos local government area of plateau state on the 3rd of September, 2024 on a press statement issued on the 4th September, 2024. The tagging of Fulani people as terrorists by the VANGUARD is a clear indication of hatred and lies targeted at tarnishing the good image of the peace loving Fulani community of Bokkos LGA and an incitement to set the fulanis against their neighbours who they live with in peace and harmony after the unfortunate incidences that bedeviled the Local Government in the recent past. An action we reject in totality.
The Fulani community condemn in totality the recent attack/isolated killings by some yet to be identified criminals on Daffo and other communities and hereby condole with the families that lost their love ones.
We therefore call on good and peace loving people of Bokkos LGA, Plateau State, well-meaning Nigerians and the international community to disregard this release as it is baseless, uncalled for and capable of inciting one community against the other.
We appreciate the good work the security agencies are doing to douse tension and prevent the resurgence of hostilities in the local government area. We enjoin them to do more in protecting lives and properties of the citizenry and arrest criminals who are held bent to sabotage the peace process currently in place.
We want to also bring to the notice of the general public, the government at all levels and the international community on the continual isolated killings of our members, cattle rustling, theft of motorcycles and other criminal activities perpetrated by these people. This action of this vanguard is nothing but ‘crying more than the bereaved’.
While we credit the Sector Commander of the Operations Safe Haven in Bokkos for responding to the cattle rustling attempt at Pek Malu in Tangur district on the 09/09/2024 where 83 rustled cows were rescued and other criminality in his area of responsibility, we call for an investigation into the activities of the under listed who we suspect are accomplices to cattle rustling, violent incitement and other criminal activities perpetrated in the area:

The Fulani people shall continue to be law abiding and pledge to give the security maximum cooperation to get rid of criminal activities in the area.
We want to bring to the notice of the security the recent violent attacks in Bokkos that claimed the lives of the following people while others sustained life threatening injuries of various degrees:
Abdulmumin Musa Gayya killed on the 05/09/2024 at Tashan Angule along Bodel road before Yelwan Nono, Bokkos
Kop andarken
Abubakar Bello was killed on the 09/08/2024 at Kunet by one Mr Dung Pwajok
Aliyu Umar was ambushed, beaten and his motorcycle taken by youths of Mbar on the 05/09/2024
Lawan Abdullahi, his mother (Hajiya Hajara), his elder sister (Hajiya Aishatu (Indo) Abdullahi) were mercilessly beaten and his motorcycle taken by youths of Butura Gida on the 27/08/2024.
We wonder what we have done to deserve this treatment. This should stop henceforth and urge all and sundry to tour the path of peace for sustainable economic development.
We are worried and left in doubt as to those who parade themselves as Barristers and yet jump into conclusion without investigation. Therefore, we suspect they may be impostors in the profession they claim to belong.
We demand answers, total hold to attack and cattle rustling, isolated killings and maiming, theft of motorcycles and swift action from those responsible. We call on the international community to rise up and we also demand justice for our people. We demand for absolute compensation to those who have suffered violence and cattle rustling.
Finally, we request the following:
Resettlement of our IDPs and provision of security to them more especially in kwatas, tangur, tarangol and Bokkos
Allow herders and farmers go on with their lawful businesses without hindrance and intimidation from the security and communities
Objective reportage from media outlets and the avoidance of spreading fake news capable of inciting violence
Bring an end to cattle rustling and other attacks by people from Mangu and their accomplices from Bokkos
