Gambia Labels Senegalese Border Demolition a "Profound Provocation," Calls for Restraint

The Gambian government has issued a sharp response following a border incident at the Bulock Military Camp, labeling the actions of Senegalese soldiers as a profound provocation.

According to an official state press release, members of the Senegalese Armed Forces demolished a section of the perimeter fence at the Gambian military installation on Thursday afternoon, July 16, 2026. The installation is located at the Bulock Military Border Post in the West Coast Region.

The Gambia Government confirmed that the demolition took place without any prior consultation through established bilateral military or diplomatic channels. While the state characterized the incident as "profoundly provocative and totally unacceptable," officials emphasized that Gambia Armed Forces personnel maintained exemplary professionalism and restraint, preventing any active escalation on the ground.
