# # LETTER OF DISMAY AGAINST THE TERMINATION OF MY ROLE AS COACH

I am writing in response to the letter I received on August 12, 2025, notifying me of the termination of my role as the Head Coach of Soma Sitaba Fc.

It is with great dismay that I write to condemn the termination of my service. I did not sign any contractual agreement with the football club, and as such, it does not necessitate the fact that my service has been terminated.

Initially, I managed the team to win many matches, of which the team was able to play in the semifinals of the LRR regional third division qualifiers. This is enough for a team to be proud of.

As stated in the letter, due to my busy schedule, I can no longer perform my coaching roles as expected. I highly admit to this, and this should have been the statement to be included in the letter to substantiate my exit as the head coach.

With all the efforts I put into coaching Sitaba Fc, I believed in mutual decision-making rather than issuing a worded letter against my name as someone who once coached Sitaba FC with passion and commitment.

In light of this, I am not pleased with the content of the letter issued by Sitaba FC amid the termination of my service as the head coach. I am open to any meaningful dialogue to look forward to better means of the team parting with me.

Sincerely,

Mohammed Marega

Soma Sitaba FC Parts Ways with Head Coach Mohammed Marega After Poor Season.

Soma, August 13, 2025 – Soma Sitaba FC has announced the immediate dismissal of head coach Mohammed Marega following a disappointing campaign in both the Lower River Region Third Division qualifier and the Jarra West Football League.

The Soma-based club confirmed the decision on Tuesday, ending Marega’s tenure after failing to meet expectations this season. Marega, once regarded as one of the top coaches in Soma, had previously led clubs to trophy successes and was even named "Best Coach of the Season" in past years.

However, his latest stint with Soma Sitaba FC came to an abrupt end as the club’s management opted to terminate his contract. No interim replacement has been named yet, but the club is expected to begin the search for a new coach immediately.

Fans and analysts will now be watching closely to see how Soma Sitaba FC restructures ahead of the next season.

Fans Risk Injury by Watching Matches from Substitution Bench Shade at Soma Mini Stadium

Soma, The Gambia – Spectators at the Soma Mini Stadium resorted to standing on top of the substitution bench shade to watch matches, raising serious safety concerns. A photo circulating online shows multiple fans perched precariously on the structure, risking both their safety and the stadium's infrastructure.

The incomplete stadium, whose construction began in 2017, has faced years of delays due to a lack of funding and insufficient commitment from the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. With no proper seating or viewing areas, fans have taken extreme measures to get a glimpse of the action.

Local officials warn that the makeshift solution not only endangers those climbing onto the shade but could also lead to further damage to the already stalled facility. Calls for urgent intervention have grown louder, with demands for the GFF and the Ministry to address the stadium's long-delayed completion and ensure spectator safety.

As the situation highlights the broader challenges of sports infrastructure in the region, fans and community leaders await decisive action to prevent potential accidents and finally complete the stadium.
