Location: Brikama Market, Brikama, The Gambia

The Jama Youth Organisation, in collaboration with the Brikama Area Council (BAC), the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) Brikama Branch, the National Environment Agency (NEA) Brikama Branch, Red Cross Brikama, and other stakeholders, successfully conducted a cleanup exercise at Brikama Market earlier today.

The primary goal of the exercise was to improve sanitation in the market area and raise awareness about environmental cleanliness and waste management. The initiative brought together a diverse group of participants, including local volunteers, youth groups, government agencies, and community members, all working together to enhance the cleanliness and safety of the market.

The exercise resulted in a significant reduction of waste at Brikama Market, creating a cleaner and more hygienic environment for vendors and shoppers. In addition to improving the physical environment, the event successfully raised awareness about the importance of keeping public spaces clean and safe. The event demonstrated the power of community collaboration in addressing local environmental issues.

The Jama Youth Organisation and its partners express their gratitude to all participants and stakeholders especially the chairman of Brikama Area Council for their support and active involvement in the cleanup. Going forward, the organisers will continue to advocate for regular cleanup campaigns, stronger enforcement of waste management practices, and further community education on the importance of maintaining a clean environment.
