Η Ομάδα Αρένα είναι μια από τις πιο ουσιαστικές, ενεργές και ενδιαφέρουσες ομάδες της Αθήνας. Έχει παρουσιάσει ένα ευρύ ρεπερτόριο από σπάνια και πρωτοπαρουσιαζόμενα αξιόλογα θεατρικά έργα, κλασικά και σύγχρονα. Με το δικό της ιδιαίτερο στίγμα έχει κερδίσει τη θέση της ανάμεσα στα σημαντικά σχήματα του θεατρικού γίγνεσθαι. Ιδρυτικά μέλη της ομάδας είναι ο σκηνοθέτης και συγγραφέας Αλέξανδρος Σωτηρ
ίου και η ηθοποιός και μεταφράστρια Εύα Σιμάτου. Μόνιμοι συνεργάτες, ο μουσικός Γιώργος Διαμαντόπουλος και ο φωτιστής Νίκος Σωτηρόπουλος.
Η Ομάδα Αρένα ιδρύθηκε το 2007 από τους αποφοίτους του Θεάτρου Τέχνης, Αλέξανδρο Σωτηρίου και Εύα Σιμάτου. Στα έξι χρόνια ύπαρξης, η Ομάδα Αρένα έχει παρουσιάσει οκτώ παραγωγές μεταξύ των οποίων τατου Ουίλλιαμ Σαίξπηρ στο Ίδρυμα Μιχάλης Κακογιάννης , η «Σπασμένη Καρδιά» του Τζων Φορντ στο Φεστιβάλ Δήμου Αθηναίων, στο Θέατρο της Άνοιξης και στο Booze Cooperativa, ο «Τίτος Ανδρόνικος» του Ουίλλιαμ Σαίξπηρ στο Θέατρο Τέχνης, το «Παράπονο του Νεκροθάπτου» του Εμμανουήλ Ροΐδη στο Φεστιβάλ Δήμου Αθηναίων και στο ιστορικό Θέατρο Απόλλων Ερμούπολης, η «Τέντα» σε παραγωγή του Θεάτρου της Οδού Κεφαλληνίας (Β’ Σκηνή), το «Χάι Αμέρικα ΙΙ» στο Θέατρο Τόπος Αλλού και το «Χάι Αμέρικα» στο Θέατρο Βικτώρια.
Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι η Αρένα έχει λάβει τιμητική πρόσκληση συμμετοχής στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Θεάτρου της Αρμενίας (HIGH FEST), καθώς και κριτική από το διεθνές περιοδικό Multicultural Shakespeare. Arena Theatre Ensemble is a non profit art organization, which was founded in 2007 by two graduates of the Athens Art Theatre, namely Alexandros Sotiriou and Eva Simatou. By 2012, it has staged eight productions including: “Dreams/Are we such stuff as dreams are made on?” based on dream and ghost scenes by William Shakespeare at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, “Titus Andronicus” by William Shakespeare at Athens Art Theatre (Theatro Technis), “The Awning” produced by and staged at Odou Kefallinias Theatre, “Broken Heart” by John Ford at the Festival of the City of Athens, Spring Theatre and Booze Cooperativa, “The Gravedigger’s Complaint” by Emmanuel Roides at the City of Athens Festival and the historic Apollo Theatre of Ermoupolis, “High America II” at Topos Allou Theatre, “High America I” at Victoria Theatre and “Klafsigelos” based on one-act plays by Anton Chekhov at the Festival of Tripolis. The company has had numerous sponsors including the newspapers Kathimerini and Pontiki, the radio station Vima.fm, the bookstore IANOS, Filotipon publications and ERGOTELIS construction company. It is worth noting that Arena Theatre Ensemble has received an honorary invitation to participate in the International Theatre Festival of Armenia (HIGH Festival) and a review from the international journal Multicultural Shakespeare. Moreover, the company has participated in the international exhibition Theatre Association of the Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) in New York, which took place from 11 until January 15, 2008 and is the world's largest exhibition, which brings together prominent production companies.
