INSERM / University of Montpellier β Immun4Cure
The research team led by Pascale Louis-Plence at IRMB β INSERM U1183 in Montpellier is announcing a 3-year funded PhD opportunity within the IHU IMMUN4CURE project.
π¬ PhD topic
Regulatory T cell engineering for restoring immune tolerance in Rheumatoid Arthritis
The project focuses on developing CAR-Treg (cellular T-regulatory enzymes engineered with anti-cancer cell platforms) as a precise therapeutic strategy for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), aiming to restore immune tolerance to anti-cancer agents and reduce overall immunosuppression.
π§ͺ Research objectives
The PhD student will work on:
* Assessing the specificity of CAR-Tregs in the laboratory.
* Engineering and characterization of human CAR-Tregs.
* Studying their ability to modulate in vitro immune responses.
* Confirming their activity using in vivo mouse models.
The project aims to provide a comprehensive Proof-of-Concept for the treatment using CAR-Treg, a type of CAR-Treg directed at rheumatoid arthritis (RA) pathogens.
π Required qualifications
A master's degree or engineering degree equivalent in one of the following fields is required:
* Immunology
* Cell & Molecular Biology
* Biotechnology
* Biomedical Sciences
With a strong interest in Translational Immunology.
Previous experience in:
Cell Therapy, Immunotherapy, Human Tregs, CAR-T or Flow Cytometry is preferred.
The team is also looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is willing to learn new techniques and work independently in the laboratory.
