On Friday we stopped in Lykos.
Our plans for the evening were quite ambitious, but the weather had its own ideas.
As it often happens on Crete, even bad weather can turn out to be a good thing.
Now I know which weather model actually works in this region — and as a bonus, those “bad” conditions gave me a few really interesting frames, showing that sometimes imperfect weather creates the most dynamic photos.

Yesterday’s beautiful weather pulled me back to the Balos Lagoon.
But this time, I chose a different spot to photograph — much higher, near the peak of Geroskinos, overlooking the Gramvousa Peninsula.
Unfortunately, strong winds reaching up to 7 bft changed my plans a bit, so I didn’t climb any higher. Still, the view was worth every step.

The end of the season at Preveli is supposedly just around the corner, yet the sun is still shining... The sea is calm, the palm tree still rustles — only there seem to be fewer people. Time slows down. ☀️

If you’re looking for a trail that combines nature, history, and a peaceful beach, the Sougia – Lissos section is definitely worth adding to your list. A few kilometers that let you slow down, enjoy the views and capture them with your camera, all while experiencing the unique charm of southern Crete. Discover the full story on my blog. On the Manika Plateau, time flows differently. Silence wraps around like a soft blanket, and in the air lingers a touch of ancient magic.
Soon I’ll share more photos and stories on the blog – for now, just a small glimpse.

Many times, I find myself not capturing my experiences in photos or videos. Not because I don’t have the opportunity, but because I don’t always feel the need to document them.
Some moments are so full in themselves that trying to capture them breaks them into fragments—fragments that are hard to piece back together later.
Here in Crete, I’m discovering spaces where I can rest from the everyday noise—while also experiencing places where nature and humanity have created something truly remarkable.
Sometimes, the attempt to show what you’ve seen or felt takes away from its authenticity. Not everything needs to be explained through images. Some impressions speak through atmosphere, silence, and presence.
My gaze doesn’t seek embellishment. I long for the simplicity of looking without needing to interpret or comment. Just allowing things to be.
Because not everything can be put into words—and not everything needs to be.

50! 🎂 Instead of a party – Pachnes, 2453 m in Crete.
No candles on top, but the views make up for everything.
The ancients were right: know yourself – and you’ll see you can climb higher than you ever thought.

This hike had it all: winding serpentines, a dramatic gorge, turquoise sea, and a steep climb to finish.
Yesterday’s route: Likos – Livaniana – Aradena – Marmara – Likos. I’ve done it several times already, and it never fails to impress.
From the very start, it’s full of thrills – the serpentine descent to Likos feels like the opening scene of a Hitchcock movie. Then a trek to Livaniana, crossing the stunning Aradena Gorge, a refreshing swim at Marmara Beach, and finally the steep climb back up to Likos.
Sweat, breathtaking views, a dip in the sea, and the joy of an active day well spent – all in one adventure.

The E4 trail in Crete is a paradise for hiking lovers, nature seekers and fans of breathtaking views.
One of its most stunning sections is Sougia – Lissos – wild, peaceful and incredibly picturesque.
Walking along the coastline, you’ll pass ancient ruins, dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and feel as if you’re discovering a completely different world.
If you dream of a trail far from the crowds, full of magic and contrasts – this one should definitely be on your list!
These are just a few shots – the full story is coming soon!

GREECE STORY

Everything started with a walk on Santorini Island near Firostefani. The space, the whiteness of the houses and the colour of the Aegean Sea create the impressive dignity to those sites. Combined with the history they explain why so many people have been enchanted by the island for thousands of years.
