President Irfaan Ali Declines FBI, Scotland Yard in Adriana Younge Probe

🔍 No International Help in 11-Year-Old's Death Investigation

President Irfaan Ali has made it clear—there will be no involvement of the FBI or UK’s Scotland Yard in the investigation into the tragic death of 11-year-old Adriana Younge.

🗨️ “I’ve fulfilled every commitment I made. It’s now in the hands of political actors,” the President stated at the Caribbean Police Commissioners’ meeting.

🇺🇸 Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador Nicole Theriot confirmed no formal request was made by Guyana for FBI support.

🗣️ “We’re open to assisting, but the Guyanese Government must initiate the request,” she said.

🇨🇦 In place of U.S. or UK agencies, Guyana has brought in Leonard McCoshen, a retired Canadian police expert, to assist with the case.

👉 The public remains concerned about transparency and international oversight in such a sensitive investigation.

The tragic death of 11-year-old Adrianna Younge has shaken Guyana to its core. Found lifeless in the pool of the Double Day Hotel in Tuschen on April 24, Adrianna's body bore visible bruises and swelling, raising suspicions of foul play.

In response to public outcry and the family's demand for transparency, a post-mortem examination is being conducted today at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. The examination is led by a team of three international pathologists: Dr. Gary L. Collins from Delaware, Dr. Glenn A. Rudner from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and Dr. Shubhakar Karra Paul from Barbados.

Tensions escalated outside the hospital as a crowd gathered awaiting the autopsy results. The Police Tactical Services Unit (TSU) was deployed to manage the unrest, during which rubber pellets were fired to disperse the crowd.

President Irfaan Ali has pledged full support to Adrianna's family, ensuring that all their requests regarding the investigation are honored. He emphasized the need for a transparent process, stating, "All of us want the truth. That is the only thing I’m interested in; ensuring the truth leads to [justice]."
