Forward Guyana Signs ‘Contract with the People’ to Rebuild Nation

Georgetown, Guyana (Credible Sources) - The Forward Guyana Movement on Tuesday signed a public “Contract with the People,” laying out its transformative agenda to address what it calls a national crisis of poverty, corruption, inequality, and governance failure.

Speaking at a press conference, the Movement’s Presidential Candidate, Amanza Walton-Desir, framed the contract as a moral and binding commitment rather than a campaign promise. “We are not here to campaign with empty promises. We are here to sign a contract. A moral obligation. A commitment to action,” she declared.

The contract is built on four core pillars: empowering citizens through land ownership, small business support, and education; tackling the rising cost of living with price controls, subsidies, and food security measures; reforming governance through transparency, meritocracy, and presidential accountability; and building unity by strengthening local government, Indigenous rights, and racial harmony.

Describing the document as a “public covenant,” Walton-Desir invited citizens to scrutinize and hold the Movement accountable across lines of region, race, and politics. “This is not about power. It’s about purpose,” she affirmed.

The signing is the first in a series of national engagements planned by the Forward Guyana Movement in the lead-up to the September elections. The full Contract with the People is available online at www.forwardguyana.com.
