As part of its 2017 grand-opening celebrations, Andaz Singapore invited Schtung to create an “aural invitation” for the property, This music was composed and arranged by Oklahoma-born, Singapore-based jazz musician Shawn Letts, with accompaniment by Mohamed Noor, a renowned Singapore percussionist who plays more than 25 instruments.. Their composition—“Andaz Singapura,” “Jalan Andaz,” and “Jalan Singapura”—demonstrates how music from both South Asia and the West have influenced the Singapore sound.

Executive producer Morton Wilson himself walked the city, collecting field recordings of traffic, corner conversations, and other soundscapes and adding authentic texture to this sophisticated, surprising composition.

“We wanted to provide an imaginary soundtrack to a stroll around these incredibly upbeat neighborhoods, and actually grabbing ‘real sound’ to include in the piece just seemed the right way to go,” says Wilson. “It’s a celebration of the cultural diversity and energy on offer here.”

Soundtracks focused on local artists and cultures give each Andaz property its own special sound.
