A collection of blue water, wooden boats, sunsets, and snippets from an introvert’s journal ~ out at sea for 3 days with no signal in Komodo National Park ⛵️🌊

We focus so much on the destinations (which are so incredible!) but on this trip, I’ve appreciated the moments in between just as much.

Amidst full days of island hopping to places like Padar Island, and the Pink Beach with creatives and a group of strangers who are now friends.

There’s also noticing the stillness of the boat at sunrise.

Finally getting brave enough to jump from the bow.

Creating for the joy of it - and thus slowly learning more about who I am becoming as a creator.

Sharing thoughts and experiences before the next adventure begins.

It’s funny what you learn when you swap signal bars for sunsets and salt water. And these are some first few pages in my “write it all down” era 📖🌱

Not to be dramatic, but Padar Island in Komodo National Park might just be one of the few true slices of paradise left on Earth 🌿🦖 Most people will hike up for sunrise, but we went to watch the sunset golden hour instead and it was just as spectacular!

Did you know this one island has 3 different coloured sand beaches on it? Seeing all three in one frame from the to of the mountain ~ white sand, rare black sand, and that stunning, unique pink sand beach was like experiencing a real life Jurassic park.

This was a silent ‘pinch me’ moment at the edge of the world! Save this island for your next adventure in Indonesia 🤩

Stepping into Maison&Objet Intérieurs Hong Kong felt less like a trade show and more like a journey through time and culture. The whole vibe was about being at a “Crossroads”, finding beautiful connections from 9 different countries. Bridging heritage with tomorrow, and connecting village craftsmanship with the world stage.

Spaces featured here:

🇦🇪 “Beyond Majlis” (images 1-2) - Felt like a trip to a futuristic desert. With curved modular seating, holographic elements, desert neutrals, and copper accents.

🇹🇭 “Breath of Bamboo” (image 4) - Fluid parametric arcs of bamboo are a beautiful reminder of where materials and heart come from.

🇫🇷 “Soft Cocoon” (images 3&5) - Playful, light, and full of energy. Made me think about how design makes us feel!

Loved experiencing so many designs from all over the world! It’s on until December 6th at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai if you’re in the city!

Tucked away on the edge of Komodo National Park, is an escape from the rest of the world 🦎🌊🩵

Waking naturally to the sun rising behind the mountains. Free from alarms and the chaos of daily life. And at night, watching a sky full of stars from the comfort of my deck felt like a true gift from the universe. Each moment being a testament to the joy of slow travel, being present and attuned to nature.

Sunrise from Neverland! 🌴✨ This is the famous Rumah Pohon Treehouse, Nusa Penida (TOP TRAVEL TIPS👇🏼)

📸 The Rumah Pohon treehouse is a famous photo hotspot, and you’ve probably seen many photos from here online. But here’s the thing: most people roll up at peak tourist hours. We went for sunrise, and there were barely any people.

📸 When it is busy, they have a strict 2-minute time slot for photos, which is efficient but can feel rushed. Going early means you can take the pressure off.

⛩️ Beyond the Rumah Pohon treehouse photo spot, my favourite view is from the Thousand Islands viewpoint, which is further down the path from the treehouse and along a mountain ridge to a small temple. From there, you can look back at Diamond Beach with zero crowds and a panoramic view! Going here after taking a few photos at the treehouse was one of my favourite places to quietly appreciate coastline before heading back up to the car.

🎟️ Don’t forget to bring extra cash! there is a small entry fee and additional ticketing for taking a photos at the hotspots (such as the treehouse).

🐉 There were also some nice gardens on the walk down, we saw some dragonfruit trees!

Nusa Penida, you absolute gem. This memory is staying with me forever. ❤️ Have you guys been to this spot?

What if the truest luxury isn’t found in speed, but in the profound, unhurried art of slowing down? 🌿 Waking up to nature in Nusa Penida, and a view of Mount Agung while taking a dip in the villa pool. This is the heart of slow travel 💚

There’s the Kelingking Beach you’ve seen online, and then there’s the one you feel with all your senses. For a good few minutes, it still didn’t even feel quite real!

First came the crowd, and then came the sound: the massive, crashing ocean that a screen can never carry.

Then the unexpected cast: the cheeky monkey who was just a second ago trying to peek inside my bag.

And finally, the shared camaraderie of everyone huffing and puffing on those steep stairs, all of us fulfilling the dream of experiencing place this before the glass elevator is completed 🫣

To stand in front of something you’ve seen a thousand times on a screen is a strange and beautiful thing. Maybe the magic of this place is the moment the familiar image finally feels real 🤩🦖🌊

Have you ever been here?
