Batlleiroig proudly introduces Ecodistrict laMercedes, a project to reactivate an old Mercedes-Benz factory in Barcelona. The project generates new economic and residential activity, contributing to the large urban regeneration of Bon Pastor and Besòs, which has now become the most dynamic urban area in the city.

The project is committed to a new model of flexible, versatile, and non-hierarchical housing, with habitable outdoor spaces. The limits between the private and the common are redefined, creating a new model of collaborative housing. The project promotes the creation of intermediate spaces, interior or exterior, between the private and public domains. The intermediate space is the scene of neighborhood coexistence, meetings, and games, and encourages community life.

An urban habitat ready to fight climate change. Structured around green infrastructure – streets and squares – and designed with systems and materials that can reduce temperatures in its surrounding environment by up to 3ºC. The free space will be a permeable and accessible meeting place that promotes social cohesion. Priority will be given to green spaces, enhancing nature and biodiversity over vehicles, which are eliminated from public spaces.

World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2023 winner in the International Building Beauty, Special Prize category.

CHAT architects unveils its new project, the Angsila Oyster Scaffolding Pavilion, located off the coast of the historic Angsila fishing village in Thailand, aiming to re-vitalize Angsila's struggling fishing/seafood industry through the creation of a new oyster eco-tourism infrastructure prototype.

The pavilion design draws on and “bastardizes” the widely deployed bamboo scaffolding traditionally used for oyster cultivation. When in use, local fishermen bring small groups of visitors from Angsila to the pavilion, where they can handpick oysters pulled from the ocean below, which are then prepared fresh to eat …a sea-to-table dining experience in a remarkable coastal setting.

Like traditional oyster scaffoldings, the new scaffolding is built entirely by Angsila fishermen, utilizing local shallow-ocean bamboo construction techniques that require no power tools. A graphic red (complimenting the greenish bay waters), light-filtering agricultural tarp, commonly used in nearby nurseries, shades visitors from the ocean sun, yet allows for the passage of ocean breezes.

Daily tous les jours introduces Daydreamer, a sculptural interactive and kinetic bench for collective experiences and suspended moments.

A set of revolving long benches host a sound and sensing system. Each bench accommodates up to four people and is finished in Canadian white oak, with a powder-coated aluminum arch. Interactive LED lights are integrated in the arch and under the seat to emphasize movement.

When people sit and push the benches to rock or spin, music and light animations are triggered through motion detection, merging analog and digital movements. The benches rock in four quarters, or rotate 360˚ with a bit more push from the user. People may sit on the bench or hold the arch from a standing position, or from a wheelchair, to make music. No matter how people play, the mechanism inside the benches’ pivot centre ensures the motion is slow.

Approximately 130 miles east of Los Angeles, and only minutes from the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, The Landing House is seemingly worlds away. Designed with sustainability at its core, and at every turn, the home masterfully blends into the layout, textures, and color palette of its desert canvas.

“The landscape is harsh, and it can take decades for a plant or tree to recover if displaced from its delicate ecosystem,” explains Fernando Gerscovich, a Buenos Aires-born architect who, along with his brothers, Juan Diego and Patricio, created The Landing House as a comfortable human habitat in the desert environment. “We were determined to minimize disruptions of the natural landscape, so our design focused on integration that wouldn’t disturb the surrounding plants and natural geography of the land.”

It’s a real building!

With 24 floors made up of suspended slabs enclosed in floor-to-ceiling glass, TRIPTYQUE’s new project Onze22 provides the experience of a scenic viewpoint.

The building's transparent skin ensures that the spaces of the studios and apartments are bathed in natural light, while a covered balcony ensures protection against excess sun.

“Each point on the balcony invites you to observe São Paulo, providing endless views and, at the corners, the possibility of letting your gaze go in different directions," says Gui Sibaud, founding partner of the TRIPTYQUE agency, which designed the project.

Firewood Garden is a unique building located in Anshi Village, Sichuan, designed to reflect the traditional Sichuan dwelling's structure, material, site, and experience.

The building adopts a cross-style layout, with a large eave spreading along the surrounding ponds and an arc-shaped inner courtyard.

The building is constructed using firewood, red sandstone, and small blue tiles, all local materials commonly used in rural life.

Private rooms, tea rooms, book bars, and logistics services are divided into different directions, corresponding to the natural landscapes.

The overlapping and staggering of materials bring a trace of time to the architectural space, creating a unique atmosphere.
