A spokesperson for the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau stated on November 27 that in order to provide relief to residents of Wang F*k Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong government set up a "Support Fund for Wang F*k Court in Tai Po" with a start-up capital of $300 million dollars to render assistance to residents of Wang F*k Court and support all relevant works. The Support Fund will receive donations from individuals and private organisations.

Firefighters have brought four of the seven burning buildings at Wang F*k Court in Tai Po under control, while efforts continue on the remaining three. Firefighters are expected to reach the rooftops between noon and dusk.

The massive fire that broke out in Tai Po, Hong Kong, yesterday afternoon has claimed 44 lives, including that of a firefighter. Around 279 others are feared missing. An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire.

Firefighter Ho Wai‑ho, 37, a nine‑year veteran based at Sha Tin, died in the Tai Po blaze.

He was dispatched at 2:51 p.m. to tackle the fire at Wang F*k Court, arriving at 3:01 p.m. and joining ground‑floor rescue efforts.

By around 3:30 p.m. he lost contact.

At 4:01 p.m., he was found with facial burns near the lift lobby of Wang Cheung House, given first aid and rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

"I could only hear his breathing..."

Residents spent the night pleading for help in social media groups as the Wang F*k Court blaze in Tai Po burned for 16 hours, leaving 44 dead and 58 injured.

Fire Services say more than 1,200 firefighters and paramedics, 196 fire trucks and 98 ambulances have been deployed.

Four towers are under control, three remain burning, and rescue teams are pushing upwards floor by floor — aiming to reach the rooftops by noon.
