I was stunned when I first saw these photos—taken 60 years ago in Hong Kong. Golf attendants in traditional dress: so classy, so timelessly Hong Kong. Step back to 1959 through the lens of Toni Frissell, a Vogue-trained, wartime documentarian and pioneering female photographer.
These photos are captured at Shek O Golf & Country Club, six decades ago. Does it still exist? Yes — strictly members and their guests. Do the staff still dress like this? The night I first saw this photo, I dreamt of them. They were. I reached for my phone to take a picture. Can’t wait to show you… in the dream.
