為中尼邊境泥石流災難祈禱
位於中尼邊境的西藏日喀則吉隆縣及尼泊爾北部拉蘇瓦（Rasuwa）山區，於 8 月 26 日早上遭遇嚴重泥石流災難，截至 8 月 28 日晚上，兩地合共 575 人遇難，超過 2,500 人失聯，大量建築物、汽車、道路橋樑被沖毀。有專家估計，災難是由喜馬拉雅山冰川崩塌，冰岩連同巨大石塊跌落堵塞了河流形成堰塞湖，其後堰塞湖滿溢引致山洪和泥石流。由於災區的地形和水文條件非常複雜，加上中央氣象台預計，災區未來數日仍會下雨、日夜溫差較大，令救援工作難度大大增加。

親愛的弟兄姊妹：
聖經教導我們，與哀哭的人要同哭，要存憐憫的心愛護鄰舍、扶助困苦人。作為蒙上主恩典的兒女，我們當在災難臨到之時，以禱告承托災區，以愛心給災民實質幫助。我們幾位主教衷心呼籲各位教友，一同為西藏、尼泊爾泥石流災區禱告，記念每一位受災、失聯、痛失親友的家庭，求主施恩憐憫，安慰傷痛、保守平安。
與此同時，災後家園重建、物資補給、災民生活安置、傷者醫療照料，皆需要龐大資源與持久支援。希望我們本著基督捨己相愛的心，踴躍愛心捐輸，無論金額多少，皆是蒙主喜悅的奉獻。讓我們以微小的心意匯集愛的暖流，幫助災民渡過難關、重建家園，見證基督的愛與溫柔。

慈愛憐憫的天父，我們滿心謙卑來到你施恩寶座前。為近日西藏、尼泊爾泥石流災區的災民向你懇求：主啊，你是風雨的主宰、萬事的護佑者，求你親自臨在災區，撫平一切傷痛，安慰痛失親友的家庭，憐憫驚惶無助的民心。
求主保守所有失聯人士能平安尋回，眷顧受傷災民得醫治、得恢復；求主阻擋災害蔓延，帶領救援團隊有智慧、有力量，高效開展搜救與安置工作。主啊，求你供應災區一切所需物資，帶領災後重建工作順利推進，為破碎的家園帶來復興與盼望。
求主堅固災民的信心，挪去他們的恐懼、憂愁與絕望，讓他們在困境中經歷你的平安與供應。也求主感動我們每位信徒，常存憐憫愛人的心，樂意施予、甘心奉獻，用禱告與行動見證基督的愛。
一切頌讚、榮耀、權能都歸予你，奉主耶穌基督聖名祈求，阿們。

Prayer for the victims of the China-Nepal flash flood
In the morning of 26 August, flash floods and landslides swept across the border between China and Nepal, destroying areas along Tibet’s Gyirong County and Nepal’s Rasuwa District. As of the evening of 28 August, 575 deaths have been reported, with over 2,500 still missing. Of these, many are tourists to the region. Buildings, cars, roads and bridges were likewise destroyed.
Experts estimate that the disaster started with a glacial collapse in the Himalayas. The dislodged ice and boulders fell, blocking a river and forming a landslide dam. The dam then overflowed, which led to the ensuing flash flood and landslide. With the complexity of the geography in the surrounding region, together with the expected rainfall in the coming days and significant temperature difference between night and day, rescue operations will become even more difficult. As many tourists are amongst the affected, countries across the world have been closely monitoring the situation.

Dear brothers and sisters,
Scripture teaches us to weep with those who weep, to love our neighbours with mercy, and to lend a helping hand to the needy. As children of God, who has received his wondrous grace, we are called to respond to disasters with love, shown in both our prayers and tangible actions. We, the bishops of HKSKH, call upon all the faithful to keep those affected by the flash floods in Tibet and Nepal in our prayers. Remember all those victims, the missing, and their families, ever praying for our Lord’s mercy, comfort, and peace.
Beyond our prayers, we should also remember the realities of rescue and reconstruction. The resources needed to rebuild the destroyed communities, to support the survivors, and to treat the injured will be immense, both in the short term and in the long term. We, who have received the love of Christ, are now called to make this love be known to them. No matter what amount you decide to contribute, it will surely be a charitable act that is pleasing in the eyes of God. If each of us do our part, perhaps a new river will reach the victims – a river of Christ’s love, that sustains the victims, until the day when their homes can be finally rebuilt.

May we all find mercy, reverence, and obedience in our hearts, as we pray for the victims, and act in loving charity. May the grace of our Lord be present with all the lives affected by this disaster.

Prayer
Most merciful Father, we come before you with a humble heart to pray for all the victims of the flash flood in Tibet and Nepal. O Lord, who calmed the storms and sustains all things, be present with the victims, and abide with their families, that those who mourn may be comforted, and those who fear may find peace.
Look with favour upon those who are still missing, that they may be found and brought to safety. Heal the injured, and stop with your mighty hand any further disaster, that the rescuers, guided by your wisdom and strength, may safely reach the survivors in time. O Lord, grant that the areas affected may receive sufficient support, that future reconstruction may not be hindered or delayed, and what is broken today, whether buildings or communities, may be rebuilt in abundant hope.
Strengthen the faith of those suffering, and drive away their fear, sorrow, and despair, that in the midst of their adversity they may taste your peace and provision. Stir up the hearts of all your servants, we pray, that we may give generously, love abundantly, and witness the love of Christ through our prayers and actions.
For all praise, glory, and power belong to you; through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
