[Japanese Food] Miso Ramen Lunch Special
@ Hokkaido Santouka Ramen Midland Scarborough

I stumbled upon this place on Google Maps with a whopping 4.8 rating, so I decided to give it a shot! The display case had some models of their menu items; for a second, I thought I was at a ramen restaurant in Japan!

Their lunch special is $20.75 and is available Monday through Friday, open until 5 p.m. I was pretty happy with the regular portions. If you’re feeling a bit peckish, they have bigger portions for an extra $1.75. Plus, you can pick the hardness of the noodles, how salty you want the soup, and how much lard you’d like. I really appreciate how they try to cater to everyone’s preferences.

Great that I got to enjoy most of the soup as it was less salty and fatty. It’s flavourful with aromatic sesame seeds in it. Yummy 😋 The gyoza 🥟 looks homemade and tastes fresh. The egg was perfect! Hands down, the cha-shu slices were amazing; they were thick and lean compared to the ones at other ramen places. I ordered with the regular doneness of the ramen, and it was cooked perfectly with a chewy texture. 🫶🏼 They’re also really thoughtful about serving the ramen in thicker ceramic bowls so that the ramen and soup stay warm until the last bite. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

[Japanese Food] Tori Katsu Omurice • KenKaKu Omurice @ Cafe Kenkaku Richmond Hill

I’m totally obsessed with runny eggs! 😍🤤 The omurice was delicious, even though it didn’t get that “drapery effect“ when I cut it open as it needed some help to open up. The rice mixed with ketchup was the perfect match for the scrambled eggs. It tasted so good already, even without the sauce. The signature curry sauce was a bit sweet, and the hayashi sauce was a bit salty. You can choose according to your preference. It was such a simple, yet tasty meal on a super hot day when I was feeling lazy and lost my appetite. 😎

[BRUNCH] The Indecisive with Dubai Chocolate Style French Toast • The Indecisive with Lemon and Blueberry Pancakes

Nice warm weather finally arrived in Toronto 😎 Visited @ The Well Toronto for brunch and walking around to see this uniquely designed architecture in downtown Toronto.

We had brunch at L’Avenue, a Montreal-based brunch restaurant that opened in 1994. It gained popularity in Montreal for its indulgent brunch menu and opened its first Toronto location at The Well in 2024.

I love “The Indecisive” menu that I got to have the classic breakfast eggs, sausage & potatoes with the fully loaded French toast or pancakes. 🤤🍳🥓🥞 Both savory and sweet cooked perfectly with high quality ingredients like organic eggs. The yolk is bright orange that looks really appealing and tastes delicious. The sausage is meaty which tastes fresh not too processed without too much fat and seasoning. Roasted potatoes aren’t the normal naked version you can get at the breakfast spot, theirs are well cooked and seasoned with herbs. Yum yum 😋

The Dubai Chocolate French Toast is to die for that I don’t wanna talk . 😆 It just soooo good, all I want to do was to indulge in the rich crispy pistachio filling with the chocolate sauce, chocolate chips and the homemade whipped cream on top. If you have a sweet tooth, you can put maple syrup on it as much as you want, which is supplied unlimitedly. 😁

[MADE IN CANADA] Locally Made Fresh Japanese Ramen Noodles @ Mimigo 國祥 mimigo.ca

Have been buying made in Canada products as much as possible these weeks. As I searching for the options, I found this fresh Japanese ramen at No Frills(Warden/HWY 7).

There are 4 bunches of noodles in a pack for $3.29. Amazing that it’s not frozen and it’s locally made. Mimigo國祥 also make other kind of noodles like wonton noodles, Shanghai noodles and chow mian. I like this packaging rather than the ones packed with styrofoam tray and plastic wrap.

As the taste of it, the texture is not springy also not mushy. It tastes a bit like egg noodles. Probably will under cook it a little next time for a more chewy texture. I would like to get and try their other kind of noodles, like the Shanghai noodles. 😋🫶🏼

[BRUNCH] Smoked Salmon Egg Benedict Soufflé Pancakes • Avocado Egg Benedict Soufflé Pancakes • Americano • Matcha Latte @ Fuwa Fuwa Pancakes

Tried Fuwa Fuwa weekend brunch with the 20% off coupon (at Vaughan location) and also took advantage of the tax break. 😁 I love Japanese soufflé pancakes 😍 and egg benedict is my favourite brunch food. 😋 I just can’t pass this chance to try this savoury soufflé pancake combo.

This is not usual egg benedict you can get, the egg was pan fried; the topping was sandwiched between two soufflé pancakes. I couldn’t see the eggs at first glance, which I expected were poached. 😅 It was, however, one pan fried egg covered with generous amount of hollandaise sauce. The pancakes were fluffy as usual but might not be as fluffy as the regular ones since they were stacked with the toppings and sauce, but it’s still so good and delicious. 🤤 I will be craving for pretty soon. 😆

P.S. love that they seasoned everything gently, lightly sweetened pancakes and matcha latte, lightly salted hollandaise sauce. 🫶🏼

Nice cozy Omakase restaurant located in Markham. Amazing that free parking is available, not like some downtown Toronto restaurants that need to pay for parking.

The ingredients used for this meal are fresh and luxurious. I had heard of one of the Japanese food delicacies, Shirako（白子）which is the milt or s***m sacs of male cod, this was the first time I tried it. It tasted smooth and creamy, I imagined it would taste fishy but it wasn’t. Maybe because it’s served with a citrusy sauce. Good starter and I also love all the chef’s choice sushi! My favourites were the botan ebi sushi topped with uni and the salmon roe sushi. The chef put a touch of lemon zest on top of the salmon roe sushi. It turned out really refreshing and brought out the sweetness of the roe, dismissed the unpleasant fishy flavour that it may have. There’s one item I didn’t like was the fish bone soup as it’s a bit fishy. Other than that I enjoyed this omakase meal with delicious menu and the great performance of sushi making from the chef. 😋🫶🏼

The wintery weather got me thinking of this yummy clay pot rice meal I had in Hong Kong. The weather was so hot when I was there, like 30 degrees of the difference to Toronto today’s temperature, but I need to try this popular restaurant that serves great old school clay pot rice.

There is food that I can’t get the same taste here in Toronto, one is the chicken, another one is the Chinese sausage. The chicken tasted fresher and the texture of the meat was more bouncy and silky. Could be the kind of the chicken and the way they were raised, also the technique they use to cooked it. It just so delicious 🤤🫶🏼 The seasoning of the Chinese sausage was just right with fragrant wine taste and in great texture too. Yummy 😋

This could be the best buffet I ever had! Very luxurious and very delicious. Hong Kong offers amazing buffet options, where so many great restaurants and hotels have buffet in different themes and cuisines. This one I had was all about crabs that is one of my favourite food. 🤤 love the baked stuffed crab, the fresh oysters, the red shrimp sashimi. The durian cheese tart was the dessert to die for. 🔥🔥🔥

One of my favourite best meals in Hong Kong! Local friends brought us to the indoor wet market at Sheung Shui to get fresh seafood and then bring them right upstairs to the dai pai d**g to cook them for us. It was a very authentic experience for visiting Hong Kong to have different seafood that I might not be able to get fresh here in Toronto. I caught the boat to try the Hairy Crab as it was the start of the season. The roe of the crab tasted like egg yolk and that’s the main part to enjoy this little crab. But of course I didn’t throw the body away although it’s the least enjoyable thing to eat crabs. 😆 All the food was so delicious and fresh! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 My favourite was the jumbo shrimp, which was cooked perfectly with the right amount of seasoning and I rarely see shrimps that big and meaty. Yummy 😋😍

This is what I would like to have on a hot day 😋🫶🏼 I can’t believe the weather still warm in November. 🫣 It feels like 22 degrees today in Toronto. Not as hot as the weather when I was in Hong Kong, which was close to 30 degrees, but still pretty unusual. How you gonna enjoy the warm weather? 😎☀️
