《爾雅集》隸屬於《輔仁媒體》網站，編採獨立於《輔仁》。

後者旨在「批判叢林資本主義和官僚資本家專政，提倡公民平權、民主憲政、均富共榮」，《爾雅集》理念相同，但主力生活休閒方面，從生活導入時事。

我們相信百花齊放的高手在民間，品味和生活意見未必有統一指標。只要有好的文章，不論立場、不論編輯是否認同、不論作者姓甚名誰，都有平等的機會發表意見，得到同樣的尊重──《爾雅集》就是這樣一個平台。
