Founded in 1955, Geographical, Geological & Archaeological Society SSS HKUSU (“GGAS”, formerly Geographical, Geological & Archaeological Society AA HKUSU) has been one of the oldest societies in continuous operation in the University of Hong Kong. Despite having gone through some challenging times in the past half-century, the Society’s goal to serve Members to the h

ighest standards has never been wavered, and shall remain immutable for the foreseeable future. The transition in affiliation from Arts Association HKUSU to Social Sciences Society HKUSU in 2008 embodies a new beginning for the Society to thrive again and reach new zenith. At GGAS, we believe that zeal is the key to success. As inscribed in the Society’s constitution, the Society not only aims to cultivate Members’ interests and knowledge in Geography, Geology and Archaeology, but we are also committed to developing social awareness among our Members, especially social issues that are related to Geography, Geology and Archaeology. Our zeal is inherent in everything we do, from publishing news bulletin to organizing large-scale events such as the Orientation Series. It is this spirit that keeps us together, that empowers us to serve our Members, and to care for the community.

鄧鄧鄧鄧！唔知大家有冇聽過屏山鄧族呢！🤔

屏山鄧族係新界五大氏族中嘅鄧姓之一，自北宋初期已定居於元郎屏山鄉。直至1993 年，鄧族同意於屏山設立文物徑，令更多人了解屏山鄉民的傳統生活，亦即是屏山文物徑

屏山文物徑係香港首條文物徑，擁有眾多古蹟，今次field trip將會帶大家探索屏山文物徑，了解新界宗族嘅歷史與文化，包括多個法定古蹟同地標，例如聚星樓、覲廷書室等

今次活動仲會由考古學家兼香港考古學會副主席張宇靈帶領，帶大家近距離感受屏山鄧族嘅文化及考古嘅魅力，想了解多啲欣賞歷史建築同新界宗族文化嘅知識，咁就不容錯過喇！📜

Tang Tang Tang Tang! Have you ever heard of the Tang Clan of Ping Shan? 🤔

The Tang Clan is one of the Five Great Clans of the New Territories and has been settled in Ping Shan since the early Northern Song Dynasty. Until 1993, Tang clan agreed to set up a heritage trail to allow more people to learn the traditional life of the villagers in Ping Shan, which became known as the Ping Shan Heritage Trail.

The Ping Shan Heritage Trail is the first heritage trail in Hong Kong, featuring many historic buildings and landmarks of the Tang Clan, such as Hung Shing Temple, Tsui Sing Lau Pagoda, and Kun Ting Study Hall.

In this event, we will led by archaeologist and vice chairman of Hong Kong Archaeological Society Cheung Yu Ling , to delve into the historical and archaeological significance of the Tang Clan of Ping Shan. If you're interested in historical architecture and the clan culture of the New Territories, you definitely won't want to miss this! 📜

背景：
在四千年前的美索不達米亞，愛情不僅僅是一種轉瞬即逝的感覺，而是一種神聖的責任。遙想四千年前，在那蘇美文明時期，一位女祭司化身愛之女神的代表，一筆一筆在泥板上刻劃自己對國王的愛與渴慕，成就一首浪漫不已的情詩。這絕不僅是一首普通情詩，而是世上最古老的情詩。

伊斯坦堡 #2461，又名「致舒辛的情詩」是現今世上最古老的情詩。此情詩被刻在一塊小泥板上，共有二十九句。於19世紀在尼普爾（現今的伊拉克）被發現，並在20世紀由美索不達米亞歷史專家塞繆爾·諾亞·克萊默博士翻譯。情詩之寫作對象為舒辛國王，公元前2037-2029年時烏爾第三王朝的第四位統治者。此詩被認為由一位被選中與舒辛國王履行包辦婚姻的女祭司所寫。在詩中可見新娘在面對與國王新婚的喜悅情感。如今，它正在伊斯坦堡的古代東方博物館中展出。

蘇美爾文化：
在蘇美爾文化中，統治者需要與事奉愛與繁衍之女神伊南娜的女祭司結婚。這被視為統治者的一項神聖責任。作為農業社會，蘇美爾人們相信這一神聖儀式能夠保佑土壤的肥沃和後代的繁殖。因此，國王與女祭司的包辦婚姻對於社區的繁榮至關重要，成為蘇美爾人每年都會慶祝的活動，預示著來年的豐收。

每年的慶典都會在新年之際舉行，在盛宴、音樂、和舞蹈之中，蘇美爾人們普天同慶。國王與女祭司的包辦婚姻，就象徵着伊南娜女神與統治者的給合，確保蘇美爾一年接一年的繁盛。

在詩中，新娘坦率地表達了對國王的深情和熱切的渴望，為女性對情感和性慾的深刻抒發。新娘透過此詩，更淋漓盡致地體現了愛的美滿與幸福。透過這坦率的情詩可見，蘇美爾人並沒有性的禁忌，而是將愛與激情視為繁衍的本質，將親熱的快樂視為神聖的恩賜。以下為部分詩句的摘錄：

新郎，我心愛的人啊
親愛的，你是如此動人
新郎，請與我共度良宵
請賜我你的愛撫

宗教意義：
在蘇美爾傳統中，國王與女祭司的婚姻象徵著杜穆茲與伊南娜的結合。杜穆茲作為榖神，而伊南娜作為愛與繁衍之女神，關於杜穆茲與伊南娜的情詩在古時近東的文明中自然十分常見。不單於蘇美爾文明，在阿卡德、埃及和烏加里特文明中都能有所發現這些詩歌。這些詩歌經常探討關於愛、欲望及繁衍等主題。可見這些神祇在古代文明中的重要性。

《聖經·雅歌》（也稱為《所羅門之歌》）與這些近東情詩有着相似之處，特別是與伊斯坦堡 #2461。兩詩皆慶祝着人們的愛情和性的喜悅，坦率勇敢地表達着對性的渴望，毫不避諱地宣告着女性的所想。而伊斯坦堡 #2461 的翻譯甚至為《雅歌》的解讀提供了啟示，皆因許多短語與蘇美爾人在婚禮和節慶中吟唱的詩句相呼應，這填補了宗教文本在不同時期之間的一些缺失。儘管蘇美爾詩歌和《雅歌》之間存在顯著的時間和文化差異，但美索不達米亞情詩中的某些風格元素很有可能間接影響了這一聖經文本。

其他影響：
這些詩歌的重要性在於它們跨越世代地向現代人展現了古代的愛情。古代情詩，如伊斯坦堡 #2461 和《雅歌》，這都是人類自千百年以來追求愛情和慾望的珍貴記錄，為現代人揭示了愛情在千年以前的模樣，將我們與古代人類的情感相連接。

對美索不達米亞遺跡的發現也豐富了我們對歷史的理解，這在使人類的歷史變得更為複雜的同時亦使其變得更加迷人。美索不達米亞的文學作品被視為文學的早期形式，描繪了人類的深切情感，包括與浪漫愛情相關的感受，伊斯坦堡 #2461 便是最好的例子。

儘管時日變遷，愛的本質依然不變。甜蜜、嫉妒和性欲等主題在現代關係中仍然與現代人擁有巨大共鳴。試關心大家的日常，在現代的愛情裏，我們仍可見到四千年前蘇美爾人的影子！

其實佢好sporty㗎，佢嘅興趣係打籃球⛹️ 唔好睇佢成日怕怕羞羞，但實則外冷內熱🔥 內心有一個有趣嘅靈魂。佢心思細密，又有責任心，委託佢做事絕對可靠👌🏻

Estuario means “estuary” in Spanish! 🇪🇸

So why Estuario⁉️

The water in an Estuario is formed by the convergence of different rivers 🛶, much like how we’ll bring together everyone’s experiences and ideas to organize even better events for you all. 🫶🏻 Additionally, as an Estuario serves as a bridge between rivers and the sea 🌉, it symbolizes how we will act as a bridge between everyone, helping you enjoy your university life even more. ☺️
