Just like that, I’ve hit the third quarter of my fitness journey (approaching the 9-month mark!). I have to be honest, this past quarter (May to August 2026) has been a "low-density" phase for my workouts 😅. As long as I'm still on the path, it doesn't matter if I walk a little slower for a while.

I was delighted to deliver the welcome remarks at the Conference on x “Generative Artificial Intelligence × Environmental, Social and Governance”, held on 20–21 August at the PolyU West Kowloon Campus and online.

The conference forms part of the project “Generative Artificial Intelligence × Environmental, Social and Governance”, supported by the Research Grants Council (RGC) #研究資助局 Competitive Research Funding Scheme – Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS) (Project Reference: UGC/IIDS24/B02/25).

As Director of , the funding recipient for this initiative, and a Co-Investigator of the project, I was pleased to welcome academics, industry practitioners and participants to this timely platform for exchanging insights into the rapidly evolving intersection of GenAI and ESG.

GenAI is transforming how organisations approach sustainability, governance and social responsibility. At the same time, its development and application raise important questions concerning ethics, accountability, transparency and responsible innovation. The conference provided a valuable opportunity to explore these issues, foster interdisciplinary dialogue and develop meaningful inter-institutional collaboration.

My sincere appreciation goes to the project team, speakers, colleagues and participants whose contributions made the conference a success. I look forward to the continued exchange of ideas and further collaboration arising from this important initiative.

早前獲邀擔任 節目《 #國識商通》的受訪嘉賓，與大家探討香港教育的未來發展。📺

2026年是國家「 #十五五」規劃的開局之年，當中「全面實施『人工智能+』行動」絕對是未來的重中之重。在節目中，我分享了香港應如何發揮自身的國際化優勢，去對接國家在「教育、科技、人才」三位一體的發展所需。

我特別提出了三個值得大家思考的方向：
1️⃣ 推動教育「雙循環」：香港擁有多所全球百強大學，我們絕對有條件及優勢，助力教育逐步走向內外雙循環並重的格局。
2️⃣ 與內地硬技術優勢互補：內地非常強調硬技術培養，並能與產業鏈有效對接；這正好與香港的教育體系形成強大的互補作用。
3️⃣ 倡議師資「過渡性」認證：要促進兩地專才交流，我建議在師資互認機制上，可以考慮以「過渡性」認證安排作為未來的發展方向。

我一直深信教育必須與時並進。為配合國家及香港的發展趨勢，作為 院長, 我們已經在學院的學士及碩士學位課程中加入了大量 AI 元素，致力為社會培育 AI 世代的專才！👨🏻‍💻👩🏻‍💻

I recently had the great pleasure of being interviewed on ViuTV's "Homeland Explorer" to discuss the future of education in Hong Kong. 📺

As 2026 marks the beginning of the National "15th Five-Year Plan", the "AI+" initiative is set to be a major driving force. During the show, I shared my thoughts on how Hong Kong can leverage its international edge to align with the national need for the integrated development of "education, technology, and talents".

Here are three key takeaways from our discussion:
1️⃣ Educational "Dual Circulation": With several of our universities ranked among the world’s top 100, Hong Kong is in a prime position to help educational development move towards a model that emphasizes both internal and external circulation.
2️⃣ Aligning with Mainland Hard-Tech: The Mainland's strength in hard-tech training and its alignment with industry chains perfectly complement Hong Kong’s education system.
3️⃣ "Transitional" Certification for Teachers: To facilitate professional exchange between the two places, I proposed exploring a transitional arrangement for the mutual recognition of teaching qualifications.

At PolyU_SPEED, we believe in staying ahead of the curve. To align with these development trends, we have been actively incorporating various AI elements into our bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes to nurture future-ready talents for the AI generation! 👨🏻‍💻👩🏻‍💻

I am incredibly proud to announce the successful conclusion of the Assistive Robotics Conference 2026: Co-Creating Assistive Robot Design to Facilitate Aging in Place 🤖✨輔助機械人會議2026：共創輔助機械人設計以促進 #居家安老, held on 25 and 26 August at the PolyU West Kowloon Campus and online.

As the Director of PolyU SPEED—the funding receiving unit for this initiative—and as a Co-Investigator (CoI), it has been an absolute privilege to help bring this vision to life. This landmark event is part of our ongoing project, "Co-Creating Assistive Robot Design to Facilitate Aging in Place," which is generously supported by the RGC #研究資助局 Competitive Research Funding Scheme – Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS) (Project Ref: UGC/IIDS24/H03/25).

With rapidly aging populations globally, the need to empower our elderly community to live independently and safely at home has never been more critical. Over the past two days, it was truly inspiring to witness researchers, industry experts, and innovators come together to exchange ideas, present groundbreaking research, and co-create the future of assistive technologies.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our esteemed speakers, award winners, and attendees who made this conference a resounding success.
