“Creativity isn’t bound by technology, but there’s no denying their close relationship. At NotReal, we see technological tools—especially AI—not as replacements, but as extensions of artistic practice. AI has become instrumental in speeding up visual exploration and is beginning to shape final outputs. Still, the human touch remains vital. It’s the creative eye that ensures coherence and narrative depth. For us, technology is a bridge—powerful, yes, but always in service of human-led vision.”

“I believe technology serves both as a catalyst for creativity and, potentially, a replacement for traditional artistic expression. Tools like Cinema 4D, Blender, and AI generators have revolutionised creative exploration, making it more accessible. However, high-end production tools demand technical precision, which requires time, training, and resources. We’re witnessing a divide between accessible aesthetics and technically complex work. For me, the challenge lies in maintaining an open approach—embracing democratized workflows while ensuring conceptual and visual depth is never compromised.”

“For us, it all starts with a creative vision. The outcome we’re working towards—and the decisions we make along the way—are what truly shape the work. Technology is a vital part of that process; we’re curious about it, we explore it, and we enjoy pushing its boundaries. But ultimately, it’s a tool in service of the idea. It supports and amplifies the vision, but never dictates it. It’s the concept that leads, not the code.”

“A significant part of our practice lies in transforming creative ideas into technically executable forms—an often rewarding but occasionally frustrating process. While many artists refine a specific style around a mastered technique, we prioritise continual evolution by exploring new tools and workflows. Conceptual and emotional depth frequently arises through our attention to materiality, texture, and form. Ultimately, our aim is to blur the boundary between reality and CGI, crafting images that are both visually convincing and emotionally evocative.”

“New technologies certainly enhance the creative process, making it more efficient and enjoyable—especially with faster processing and improved simulations. However, in projects with clients and specific outcomes, tools don’t dictate the direction; they simply influence certain results. Technology today has made creativity more inclusive, allowing, for instance, Art Directors to more easily create references or express ideas. Technical proficiency complements creativity, but it’s the artist’s style and vision that define the boundaries. For our studio, every project has a conceptual framework that’s shaped by various factors, yet always controlled within specific parameters.”

“New technologies like 3D tools can be immensely powerful, but only when they serve the creative idea. We always begin with the vision, then select technologies that support it—especially under tight time and budget constraints. When chosen thoughtfully, these tools can streamline the process and help us express ideas more clearly. But if adopted too early or without clear purpose, they can complicate things unnecessarily. For us, it’s about staying flexible and using technology where it genuinely adds value, not just because it’s novel.”

“New technologies, such as 3D software, AI, and mobile apps, have significantly enhanced my creative process. I often reach for my phone or iPad before a pencil and paper. These digital tools help me express my ideas clearly, especially when my style—focused on simplicity and broad strokes—would be difficult to convey with traditional methods. Technology has made the creative process more accessible, allowing anyone—regardless of their background—to produce professional-looking work. However, this also raises questions about the balance between precision and emotional depth. Art should be meaningful, and while digital tools can enhance this, I still make a conscious effort to reconnect with traditional methods to maintain that emotional connection.”

“For me, it’s really about how I structure my tools and assets—almost like curating a personal library. I’ve found that the technical aspects, while essential, can often become routine and creatively limiting. So I prioritise choosing the tools that best serve the concept, allowing me to navigate the technical process more efficiently. That way, I can devote more energy to what truly counts: the idea, the atmosphere, and the emotional depth I want each piece to express.”
