At the Abbey of Montserrat. 🙏🏻 Sometimes I feel lucky to be able to produce a photo which could be considered art. Maybe. I hope. 🙄 I would like to avoid calling any of my own images art, that would be unprofessional, it is always up to other acclaimed artists to decide. But if I ever made it any close I believe this was one of the occasions.

A wooden church without nails! The Ascension Cathedral, also known as Zenkov Cathedral, is a Russian Orthodox cathedral located in Almaty, Kazakhstan, completed in 1907. Its height is 56 meters tall, and is claimed to be the second tallest wooden building in the world. The cathedral survived the 1911 earthquake with minimal damage, even though it was built without any nails.

And those yurts where you get to spend the night. 🤗 Charyn Canyon, Kazakhstan, east of Almaty, close to the Chinese border. The canyon is roughly 90 kilometres (56 mi) in length. Over time, the canyon has gained colorful formations of varying shapes and sizes. Though it is much smaller than the Grand Canyon, it has been described as being equally impressive.

On the way to Lake Kaindy, Kazakhstan, we pass a small settlement. From the shape of the houses and the extra doors on second floor, you can guess, snow levels get pretty high in winter. Jurts are still used until the weather allows.

Yet again, Lake Kaindy, Kolsai Lakes National Park, Kazakhstan. The lake reaches depths of nearly 30 meters (98 ft). It is in the mountains 2,000 meters (6,600 ft) above sea level. The lake was formed as the result of a major limestone landslide triggered by the 1911 Kebin earthquake. The area is often referred to as a "sunken forest".

Sunset and sunrise in Astana, Kazakstan. Astana became the capital in 1997, and is actually called Nur-Sultan since March 2019. A rather new, very planned city with a population of 1M. After experiencing it, I put it like Russian Dubai which would probably offend a lot of people.

Aktau Mountains (or Lunar Mountains), Altyn-Emel National Park, Kazakhstan. The park was created in 1996 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site today.
Aktau Mountains are incredibly colourful. Their origin is connected with rising land area which was formerly the bottom of the Tethys Ocean. One of the most incredible places I have ever been to.
