The Beat Magazine
The Beat started life as a 32 page, mostly black and white, magazine first published in May, 2000 in Bali, Indonesia. They were different times on the island of Bali. Kuta was buzzing every day and night with young and old tourists from all over the world, Seminyak was already the cooler euro-style end of town and the tourist zone basically finished at the start of Jalan Kerobokan. The White Road that later became the Sunset Road was incomplete (for seven years) so there was still only one road (Jalan Seminyak) going through the middle. Nightlife was in its infancy compared to today, but was still very vibrant, with only few venues so most were busy and all roads led to Double Six Club on Seminyak Beach at the end of the night. It was a simpler time, but like it still is today, one of the most dynamic places on earth, a crossroads to humanity and peoples of the world.
