Gen Z/ Millennial Parents 📣

I chose not to change my surname when we got married, so officially Harsh and I have different last names. And now that baby is almost here, we’ve been having a lot of conversations around what surname to give him/her on all their official documents 🤷🏽‍♀️

I know in India and honestly most parts of the world, the default is usually just giving the baby the dad’s surname.

But we both really love the idea of our baby carrying both our names. In fact, Harsh has been the one strongly pushing for mine to be included too 🥹

The only thing making this decision take longer than expected is that… we both have long last names 😂 and I genuinely don’t know if I want my baby walking around with a 17-letter-long surname for the rest of their life.

So now we’re sitting here wondering about identity, practicality, paperwork and font sizes on passports all at once 💀

Would genuinely love to know what you guys did!

Did your baby take one surname? Both? Did you create a new family name altogether?
