A NEW BEGINNING FOR MARC MÁRQUEZ?
MotoGP is known for its historical phases marked by the dominance of legends. Each era left a strong imprint that shaped the direction of the competition.
1. The Rossi Era (2000-2006): Valentino Rossi became an icon who changed the face of modern MotoGP. Six world championship titles, phenomenal on-track performances, and extraordinary charisma made this period remembered as the "golden age of Rossi."
2. The 4 Fantastic Era (2007-2012): After Rossi's dominance began to waver, four major rivals emerged: Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo, and Valentino Rossi himself. This era was known for its classic duels, intense competition, and a more equal distribution of titles.
3. The Marquez Era (2013-2019): Marc Márquez emerged as an unstoppable force. Six world championship titles in seven seasons, an aggressive riding style, and the ability to recover from impossible crashes typified this era.
4. Modern Era (2020-2024): MotoGP entered a transitional phase. Joan Mir, Fabio Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia, and Jorge Martin all achieved important titles and victories. Competition was more even, technology was advancing rapidly, and racing was becoming increasingly unpredictable.
This season, Marc Márquez seems to have rekindled his dominance. After a period marred by injuries and poor form, he has performed exceptionally well in 2025. Of the 14 races held, Márquez has secured 10 wins, missing out on the podium only four times. Record-setting history is once again being discussed, as he broke his personal best from 2014—13 wins in a single season.
This success has led many observers to call 2025 "The Second Márquez Era" or even the New Marc Márquez Era. At his ripe age and with a wealth of experience, Márquez has not only proven himself unstoppable, but also asserted that he is the gold standard for modern MotoGP.
If this winning streak continues through the end of the season, history may mark 2025 not just as a year of resurgence, but the birth of a new chapter in Márquez's dominance.
