Bali collected Rp235 billion in foreign tourist levy (PWA) from January–August 2026, with payment coverage reaching around 43% of foreign visitors—up from 35.4% in 2025.

Starting in late August, international flights to Bali will announce the Rp150,000 tourist levy to passengers.

The levy is boosting Bali’s revenue, but public calls for greater transparency on how the funds are spent are also growing.

Indonesia has recorded three confirmed
M6+ earthquakes in the last 24 hours.

The M7.7 Flores earthquake has been followed by more than 235 aftershocks, including a reported M6.2. A separate deep M6.9 then struck northern Sumatra.

A further M6-range event near Palu, Central Sulawesi, remains preliminary while agencies refine its magnitude, depth, and location.

These are separate events on different faults, not one earthquake sequence moving across Indonesia.

Ngurah Rai Immigration has deported BR, a Lithuanian national born in Israel, for misusing a Business Visit Visa to work as a paid content creator and carry out digital marketing activities for “The Bali Dream,” where he was identified as a nomad subject.

The action began after Immigration investigated social media information regarding the alleged involvement of two former Israeli military members in managing a travel agency in Bali. Verification found that both individuals, SG and AC, had already left Indonesia on August 11, 2025.

The investigation then turned to “The Bali Dream.” Immigration found that the website and business WhatsApp number were linked to BR, who entered Indonesia on May 7, 2026. No physical office for “The Bali Dream” was found in Indonesia during the investigation.

For violating his immigration stay permit, BR was deported and banned from entering Indonesia for five years, effective August 13, 2026.

Ngurah Rai Immigration said it will continue strengthening its supervision of foreign nationals’ activities to help keep Bali safe, comfortable, and orderly.

🚨 66 FOREIGN NATIONALS CAUGHT IN BALI IMMIGRATION OPERATION

Bali Immigration has detained 66 foreign nationals from 27 countries following a week-long intensification of the Dharma Dewata Immigration Patrol.

The violations included:
• 24 foreign nationals accused of misusing their residence permits
• 20 found to have overstayed
• 22 involved in disturbances affecting local communities

The operation covered areas including Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, Singaraja, Klungkung and Tabanan, with officers using integrated digital systems to detect and verify immigration violations.

Immigration Bali says enforcement will remain firm, professional and humane, while accommodation providers and businesses are also being encouraged to improve reporting of foreign nationals.

One passenger has died and 172 others were evacuated after a ferry travelling from Bali caught fire off the coast of Lombok, Indonesia in the early hours of Wednesday (Aug 12). Over 200 personnel have been deployed as part of the ongoing rescue operation for further missing people. The cause for the blaze is unclear.
