I created "Grafting Examples" to serve others who want to make and propagate their own fruit trees to plant in backyard gardens and of course be able to harvest their own fruit and eat delicious fruit. Imagine a couple having an argument. Instead of addressing the issue, one partner suddenly goes silent for hours or days—no calls, no messages, no eye contact. This is often called the “silent treatment.”

The partner receiving the silence starts overthinking:

“Did I do something terrible?”

“Are they going to leave me?”

“I need to fix this right now.”

Out of guilt and fear of losing the relationship, the silent partner’s needs often get prioritized. The person on the receiving end may apologize or give in to demands—even when they weren’t wrong.

In a small town plagued by conflict, a young man named Ardan worked as a shopkeeper. One night, a group of thugs stormed in, shouting and threatening to rob the store. They banged on tables, terrifying the customers.

But Ardan didn’t shout back or fight. He calmly looked at the gang leader and said softly,
"You look hungry and tired. Sit down, I’ll make you some tea."

The thugs froze. They didn’t expect such a response. Ardan continued,
"I don’t have much money here, but I can share some warm bread. If you’re hungry, please eat. There’s no need to steal."

Silence filled the room. The leader slowly lowered the metal rod in his hand and sat down. His face softened as he whispered,
"No one has ever spoken to me like that before."

That night, it wasn’t threats or violence that defused the danger — it was kind words and sincerity. From that day on, the thugs never caused trouble again.
