There’s a version of me my daughter has never met. I hope she never has to.
The one who lost his temper and called it a bad day. Who avoided hard conversations because letting things sit was easier. Who thought providing meant showing up with money, not showing up, period.
He’s still in there. But he stopped being in charge the first time she looked at me waiting to see who I was going to be in that moment.
I didn’t become a better man because I decided to. I became one because she needed me to.
