Genre: Japanese Literature

“In the book of life, the answers aren’t in the back.”

took me back to my high school era, when I thought it was the only time people took to draw their future. You can always restart anything at any age.

There are many ways for people to connect on a deep emotional level, and this book discusses how individuals can bond through grief, although it is a painful reality to acknowledge.

On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous - Ocean Vuong

Genre: Contemporary Fiction

“All freedom is relative”

This book encompasses a letter from a son to his mother who cannot read.

With the set in the 1990s, “Little Dog” unpacked his Vietnamese-born family’s historical journey which plays a significant role in his life as he grew to a 20-year-old man who felt like he has never been heard.

This book encourages us to be brutally honest about our feelings. I strongly identify with the experience of being an Asian-born individual constantly exposed to European culture. It provides a perspective on how cultural differences can create an ongoing internal struggle.

Each page feels lyrical and allows the reader to connect with Little Dog’s perspective. I fully admit that Ocean is a brilliant writer. Why? because these letters shattered me beautifully.

Nightbitch - Rachel Yoder

Genre: Contemporary, Fiction, Feminism

“How many generations of women had delayed their greatness only to have time extinguish it completely?”

This is my first book on feminism. Somehow, this book feels strange yet relatable on so many levels.

Given Nightbitch’s third-person perspective, reading it feels like peeking into a forbidden diary.

There are some points where it feels like overwhelming rants, written on so many pages yet I began to understand how powerless and sidelined Nightbitch was.

Resulting in the thin line of whether you will be empowered to become the woman you envisioned, or worse, only to succumb to centuries of bitter truths about being a woman.

Hi penonton setia, kali ini saya mau curhat sedikit mengenai buku Nightbitch karya Rachel Yoder. Rasanya seperti membaca buku diary tapi dari POV orang berbeda ya, jadi buat saya kurang bisa dinikmati dengan mudah. Isinya kurang lebih menggambarkan Motherhood pada umumnya yang membuat saya salut terhadap semua Ibu didunia🙌🏻
