Lasem Batik has a distinctive blend of Chinese and Javanese culture, as seen from the existing motifs. Some of the famous motifs include Sekar Jagad, Latohan, Hong Bird, and Dragon.

The colors that are often used are chicken blood red (abang getih pitik), bottle green, and dark blue. In addition, Lasem Batik is also known as "Three Country Batik" because the coloring process is carried out in three stages.

Lasem itself is nicknamed "Little China" because of its history as the first landing place for Chinese people in Java. This has a strong influence on the development of Lasem batik, especially in its motifs and colors.
