Silence is sometimes more painful than hearing a simple 'no.'
To be honest, if someone had just said, 'I can’t help right now, but I’m praying for her' — that would have meant so much more than nothing at all.
You see, when you're part of a group — whether it’s on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, or any space where people are trying to connect — your presence is more than just your name on the list. It means something. Or at least, it should.
But what does it say when you’re in the group and never respond, never comment, never even acknowledge what’s happening? No likes, no thoughts, no support — not even a short sentence.
It feels like you’re just there as decoration. A silent figure in the corner of the room. And that’s not what community is about.
Groups aren't about numbers. They’re about people.
People who show up. People who care. People who try, even in small ways.
So if you’re going to be part of a group, be present. If you can’t act, then at least speak. Let people know you see them, you hear them, you care. Because in the end, it’s not always about what you give — it’s about how you show up. And silence? Silence can be the loudest absence of all."
