The Main Function of UV Light in Knitting
​Detecting Fiber Contamination: UV light can reveal foreign fibers (such as nylon in the middle of cotton) or fibers contaminated with machine oil that are not visible under normal light.
​Yarn Lot Identification: Sometimes, yarns from different production lots react differently under UV light. This prevents the barre effect (horizontal lines) in fabrics caused by mixing yarn lots.
​Chemical & Bleach Detection (Optical Brighteners): UV light reveals areas of uneven bleaching or residual washing chemicals that can cause streaks during the dyeing process.
​Invisible Marking: Some factories use chalk or special UV ink to mark patterns or areas of defects to prevent the fabric from being visually damaged by the end consumer.
Things to Consider
​Eye Safety: Operators must wear UV protective eyewear as # long-term exposure can damage the cornea and retina.
​Light Standards: Ensure the correct wavelength (usually Long Wave UV-A) is used to ensure accurate luminescence results meet textile industry standards.
