🥗 Homemade Madura Gado-Gado!

Today, Danjiro is making one of Indonesia’s classic vegetable dishes from scratch, starting with homemade lontong and ending with a rich, savory peanut sauce.

Fresh vegetables, boiled egg, fried tofu and tempeh, crunchy crackers, and that irresistible Madura-style peanut sauce. 🤤

And here’s the secret: don’t skip the shrimp paste (petis udang). That’s where the deep, savory flavor comes from!

Simple ingredients, lots of preparation, but absolutely worth it. ❤️

Would you try Danjiro’s homemade Gado-Gado Madura?

It was a hot afternoon, so Danjiro decided to make something cold, sweet, and refreshing for his wife: Es Teler, an Indonesian shaved-ice dessert made with young coconut, avocado, jackfruit, kolang-kaling, ice, and a fragrant jackfruit-pandan syrup.

Fresh young coconut water, creamy avocado, sweet jackfruit, chewy kolang-kaling, and a drizzle of condensed milk come together in one refreshing bowl. ✨

One spoonful, and suddenly… the heat doesn't feel so bad anymore. 🤭🥥

Have you ever tried Es Teler?

A little escape to the mountains. 🌲⛺

No fancy restaurant. No complicated menu.
Just cold air, a warm campfire, grilled beef with rendang seasoning, instant noodles, and a can of Tebs. 😂

Somehow, food tastes better when you cook it under the stars. ✨

Would you go camping with these two? 👀

🥥 Klappertaart, A Taste of History

Some desserts tell a story, and Klappertaart is one of them.

Originating from Manado, North Sulawesi, Klappertaart was born during the Dutch colonial era. Its name comes from the Dutch words "klapper" (coconut) and "taart" (cake). While inspired by European custard desserts, local cooks transformed it by using one of Indonesia's greatest tropical treasures: fresh young coconut.

The result is a beautiful fusion of cultures. Creamy custard, tender coconut strands, crunchy walnuts, sweet raisins, and a cloud-like toasted meringue come together in every spoonful. It is a dessert where Dutch baking traditions meet the rich flavors of the Indonesian archipelago.

Today, I'm sharing this timeless classic through my little anime kitchen. I hope every bite reminds you that some of the best recipes are born when different cultures meet around the same table. 🤍

Today's menu is Ayam Pop, one of Indonesia's beloved traditional dishes from West Sumatra.

Tender chicken gently simmered in coconut milk and aromatic spices, finished with a quick fry to keep its signature silky white skin.

Served with spicy tomato sambal, fresh cassava leaves, warm broth, and fluffy steamed rice.

Every bite feels like coming home.

🔥 Jimbaran Grilled Gourami 🐟🇮🇩

Smoky, juicy, and packed with bold Indonesian flavors.

Jimbaran is a famous coastal village in Bali, Indonesia, renowned for its beachfront seafood restaurants. For decades, local fishermen have brought in their daily catch, which is then grilled over charcoal and served with authentic Balinese spices.

Today, Jimbaran-style grilled seafood has become one of Bali's most iconic culinary experiences, loved by visitors from around the world.

Sometimes, the simplest ingredients create the most unforgettable flavors.

Charcoal makes everything better. 🔥

Have you ever seen a soup this black? 🖤🍲

This is Rawon, one of Indonesia's most iconic traditional beef soups.

Its deep black color comes from keluak (also called kluwak or black keluak nut), the fermented seed of the Pangium edule tree.

Fresh keluak is naturally toxic, so it must go through a careful traditional fermentation process. The seeds are first boiled, then buried in ash, leaves, or soil for several weeks to several months.

During this time, natural fermentation removes the toxins and transforms the inside into a rich, dark paste with a deep, earthy, nutty flavor.

That unique ingredient is what gives Rawon its signature color and unforgettable taste.

One spoonful... and you'll understand why Indonesians have loved this dish for generations.

At least once in your life... you have to try Rawon. 🇮🇩❤️
