Balbriggan Tidy Towns

Balbriggan Tidy Towns We are a voluntary group which promotes the Tidy Towns competition and ideals in Balbriggan. Or why not adopt a patch?

Get involved in Balbriggan Tidy Towns by joining our works party any Saturday morning @ 11am on Balbriggan beach or 10.30am at Moylaragh playground. Choose a public area which you think you could maintain, tell us about it and we will provide you with some resources and support. Balbriggan is a fabulous, sea-side town, steeped in history and natural beauty; we aim to promote and enhance its charm,

making it an even more pleasant place to live and visit. In the national Tidy Towns competition we have increased our score year on year and have won two Endeavour Awards in the last 5 years.

Our volunteers took part in a little citizen science this morning testing the Bracken river as part of DCU s Water Blitz 2025. We ventured up Gardiner's hill were two tributaries merge into the Bracken river that flows through Quay st. It will be very interesting to see what the results say.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the big beach clean today. It's nice to say that there wasn't much to do as very little litter to be found on Balbriggan's beaches, which gave us time to enjoy our beautiful coastline.

We were so happy to unveil Violeta Sav's beautiful mural in the railway station this morning. We really appreciate her obvious skill but more so her generosity to us.
Sadly we had to say goodbye to our former bee mual, painted by Lauren Moorebird, as it has degraded badly due to weather.
Balbriggan is so lucky to have such wonderful artists who want to share their artistic skills with the community. Thank you Violeta your painting will bring joy to all who see it.
A big thank you to Martin Hughes who led the installation process and to our wonderful volunteers who helped out today and who maintain the beautiful bee friendly garden, day in day out, in the railway station.

A big thank you to all the crew who worked on the Hazel Triskele on Moylaragh green. The 33 hazels are doing well but needed a bit of compost and a tidy up.
Much appreciation to Deirdre (the originatator) and Grace who travelled from Athlone to support. There's a bit more work to be done so if anyone is available during the week or next Saturday please pm us.
