What started as a normal day out with the kids turned into one of the most stressful weeks of our lives.
My wife brought our boys to the playground — the car was fine when she left. But when it was time to go home, it just wouldn’t start. They waited 2 hours for a tow, stuck with the kids, only to be left without a car for days.
After 3 days, the garage said it was a timing chain & camshaft issue. First we were quoted €5,700, then a few days later another €400 for another fault found, and finally just got a call today was told it’s a total engine failure — costing €7,700+ to fix.
This is a 2019 Peugeot 3008, well cared for, and yet the engine has failed completely. We’ve since discovered there’s a recall on this exact engine issue, which makes it even harder to accept as we weren’t even notified of it all.
We’re a family, and one of our boys has autism. Being without a car has made daily life incredibly difficult — hospital appointments, having to bring the kids to work early in the morning on summer break and leaving their sleep til late to collect each other from work, even as simple as going to buy something at a shop have turned into a huge source of stress and worry.
We’ve already reached out to Peugeot Ireland by email and are waiting for their response. But right now, we need help to make sure they listen.
👉 Please share this post so that Peugeot and Stellantis see the real impact this has on families like ours.
What should have been a reliable car has become a financial and emotional nightmare — and we don’t want any other family to go through this.
We have not indicated where the car was bought and where it’s currently being diagnosed and repaired “YET” as we are trying to communicate with them and we wouldn’t want to jeopardize their businesses at this point but if they will not cooperate we will do so in the following updates.
But as this is a known matter which Stellantis and PEUGEOT has known we will push further until it is resolved.
