Founded by brother and sister duo Carla and Delwyn Mooney working on international productions. Cardel supports directors by honing their creative potential and individuality working in the field of music videos, commercials, shorts moving to features and series. Cardel’s goal is to develop and deliver original stories and IPs that have strong creative and commercial viability appealing to a globa

l audience, enabling the growth of the company and partners. Cardel is actively developing original content including feature films and episodic series building intellectual property and developing creatively ambitious projects for the international marketplace. Cardel projects have been developed and pitched at programmes such as TorinoFilmLab, NewHorizons+, Sundance Collab, Producers Network - Cannes Film Festival, Galway Film Fleadh, Cartoon - Forum, 360 and Springboard, Edfest, Cinekid and many more. Recent work from Cardel -
Co-produced Cusp feature documentary in official competition at Sundance Film Festival 2021, won Jury Award for Best Emerging Filmmaker. Produced stop motion animation sequences animation direction by Joseph Wallace on a feature documentary The Sparks Brothers directed by Edgar Wright, premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2021. Produced with Media Rights Capital, the creators of (House of Cards, Ozark) and Wright’s company Complete Fiction acquired by Focus Features. Voices for the animation sequences included Simon Pegg as John Lennon and Nick Frost as Ringo Starr. Nominated for an Irish Film & Television Academy Award 2021 for short stop motion animation commissioned by national Irish broadcaster RTE “Günter Falls In Love” directed by BAFTA nominee Josephine Lohoar Self. RTEJnr commissioned another stop motion short for their Halloween Special 2021 “Dagda’s Harp” with BAFTA nominated director Daniel Quirke. Notable Clients to date include Sony, Universal, BMG, Warner, Media Rights Capital, RTE.

Well… We’ve only just barely pulled ourselves out from a pile of scrap paper as we got our heads around the news! It's a huge honour to be nominated alongside such mesmerising short films. Thank you to the for nominating our darling ‘ReRooted’ for Best Animated Short. Truly 2025 was such an incredible year for Irish art and artists (generally speaking 🫣) we are privileged to be a part of that.
We as artists will continue to rage against the rising tide of slop. We will grow and spread our roots in this gravelly, arid soil and future generations will sit in our shade. This nomination is a reflection of that. Everyone says it's not about the awards, and it’s not, but there’s no shame in admitting you feel quite a bit touched when a team’s hard work and dedication to a vision is acknowledged by your peers.
We could not have made this film without , rte and of course our partners in crime cardel and our truly creative, dedicated and compassionate crew. Without you ‘ReRooted’ would never have existed. This bold little film is part of our shared legacy, may it outlive us and the heat death of the planet. See ya at the IFTAs!

Buffalo 8 Distribution has released the first exclusive trailer for Luto, the new film from director Andrés Arochi Tinajero set to arrive September 26, 2025.

Co-written by Andrés Arochi Tinajero and Gonzalo Romero, Luto follows Damian, a young man coping with the death of his girlfriend.

His journey through Mexico becomes both physical and emotional, as he meets strangers and observes their unique rituals of mourning. Through these encounters, Damian begins to confront his own grief, memories, and regrets.
Arochi’s film explores the intersections of loss, tradition, and healing, offering a portrait of how people process tragedy in different ways while searching for personal resolution.
