Here’s why Val di Funes is my favorite place in Dolomites and why you too should add it to your bucket list!

⭐️ To hike and witness the breathtaking view of Santa Magdalena with the backdrop of the Geisler peaks- Need I say more😊

⭐️ Now if I had to pick 1 place where you must stay on your trip to Dolomites, I would definitely recommend Val di Funes for multiple reasons but the main reason is definitely The Scenery! This place is straight out of a story book no matter in which direction you look…

⭐️Connectivity- Whether you drive or choose public transport, you can easily reach Val di Funes and the surrounding areas as all the routes are well connected…
Tip: Take Bus no.330 to reach St. Maddalena Filler(base point to start St. Magdalena hike) or to reach St John Viewpoint or Zanser Alm.

⭐️ Although St. Magdalena viewpoint is the most visited place in Val di Funes, there are many hikes ranging from easy to difficult level that lead you to breathtaking places in the valley…

⭐️ Unless you have time constraints, I would highly recommend staying here for minimum 3 nights and don’t forget to add places like Delle Odle( GeislerAlm), Adolf Munkel trail, ZanserAlm and St Johan viewpoint to your list.

If you are also among one of those confused souls, not sure what to see and do in a short span of time in Dolomites, let me guide you to this stunning lake that might just be one of Nature’s best paintings gifted to mankind! No, not exaggerating😊 This is Lago di Carezza! Also known as the Rainbow lake of Dolomites🌈

Unlike the other lakes in this region, Lake Carezza might be short in length but don’t be fooled by it’s mystical allure and crystal clear waters as the lake can get as deep as 56 feet at its center depending upon the season you visit.

How to Reach?
Just 20 kms away from the City of Bolzano, you can drive directly to the parking spot next to the lake or you can take bus no.180 from Bolzano that drops you directly in front of the lake.

Best time for Photography
It is best to visit the lake in the afternoon to get that perfect natural lighting and the reflection of the mountain in the lake.

We visited in Spring but Autumn/ Fall season is equally beautiful

If you are planning a trip to the Dolomites, this stunning lake with Crystal Clear Emerald green waters, will definitely Top your list of places to visit! This is Pragser Wildsee also known as Lago di Braies!

Aptly called Pearl of the Alps, Here’s everything you will need to plan a trip to Lago the Braies…

How to Reach?
Lago di Braies can be easily reached by a car or by Public transport due to its convenient location. In either case, it would be best to make Cortina de Ampezzo your base to visit the lake and surrounding areas. But, if visitng the lake is your priority, stay in the small town of Villabassa which is closest to the lake.

Now, if you are staying in Cortina de Ampezzo, you can reach the lake in 40mins by car or take bus #445 to Toblach Dobbiaco and then change to Bus #442 which will drop you right at entrance of the lake.

Best Season and time to Visit?

Hands down, Spring time is the most beautiful time to visit Lago di Braies! With snow-capped peaks of the surrounding mountains and crystal clear water, Lago di Braies looks like the picture perfect scenery from the Alps.

You can visit the lake early morning when there is less crowd or during late afternoon when the sun shines on the peaks (perfect for photography) and the crowds have dispersed!

Is it worth taking the boat rental at the lake site?

It is absolutely a personal choice… Taking the boat means a few extra beautiful shots from a different perspective but it also means that you have to spend 50 euros extra plus row the boat for 45mins on your own. We didn’t take the boat as there was huge queue for renting the boat with a minimum waiting time of 1.5hrs… To be honest, we didn’t feel we missed out much because we spent our time hiking around the lake which had equally rewarding views.

A decade back, when I planned our first trip to Europe, one place that made it to the top of my bucket list was the magnificent Dolomites in Italy… The Postcard pic of the chruch of St. Magdalena with the background of Geisler peaks was imprinted on my mind…

Still remember the day when we had reached Lake Garda and I was so heartbroken to cancel the plan as visiting Dolomites via the Trento- Bolzano train route was not an option in early May… Over the years, I visited my favorite country many a times but somehow Dolomites never fit into the itinerary…

But finally after those longgggg years, I got to tick off this stunning beauty from my bucket list!
‘Beyond words’ would be an understatement to express its beauty! So happy and Overwhelmed🙏😍 It is everything I imagined it to be like and more!!! Visiting Dolomites has also reignited my passion for photography and although there is a long way to go, I have humbly tried my best to capture its unparalled beauty through my tiny lens… This was quite a last minute short trip but here’s hoping that this is just the beginning of our many trips to this little piece of paradise❤️ If you like what you see, please do share your love on the post… 👫✈️🌍📸

Have you heard about the ‘Sunken Forest’ of Kazakhstan? This was one of the most exciting days of our Kazakhstan trip as we were going to see two absolutely breathtaking pristine lakes and Lake Kaindy was our First Stop. While the journey to reach this lake is another intriguing story in itself (you must check out our insta stories to know more), this lake has a unique feature to it…

As most of the mountain lakes in Kazakhstan, Lake Kaindy was also formed by a natural dam created by a limestone landslide caused by an earthquake that took place 100s of years ago. But what makes it special are the numerous submerged trees in the middle of the lake that rise above the surface of the water and despite losing its branches and barks, the tree trunks are perfectly preserved by the icy cold waters turning white in color projecting a picture of a sunken forest or perhaps the masts of several sunken ships under water.

The limestone deposits under water gives the lake a unique bluish green color and that coupled with the submerged trees and the surrounding mountains make up for the distinctive picture perfect scenery… If you are planning a future trip to Kazakhstan, this is one sight that you definitely shouldn’t miss…

A word of caution though: Reaching this lake wasn’t an easy task as either you need to drive an all terrain vehicle or hire a Russian Military Vehicle, like we did. Once you reach the parking spot you can either hike or take a horse ride until the lake or take a different route by a eco vehicle and reach another parking spot from where the lake is a short hike of 1km.. We took this route and it was extremely scenic throughout…

Day 2 in Almaty was all about visiting the breathtaking Alpine Lake- The Big Almaty Lake(BAO). While BAO was absolutely gorgeous, visiting it turned out to be quite a hassle... Not to discourage anyone from visiting this gorgeous lake, which we did and loved it, sadly, the lake has become a plot for local corruption activities (check out our facebook/ insta stories for all the details).

In any case, I would still recommend everyone to visit this glacial lake (if you have time, go for the hike) which was formed as a result of numerous earthquakes in the Tien Shan Mountains and the lake changes color from milky green to milky Turquoise blue depending upon the time of the day.

The easiest way to reach the lake from the Almaty city is to book a Yandex cab and negotiate with the driver to halt for an hour or two which would cost you total about 15000 KZT(6000KZT return fare + 9000KZT waiting charge) i.e. (30€/2800 INR/ 33$)

Is Cobh really worth Visiting?

I’m sure most of us have seen Cobh’s famous Deck of Cards with the backdrop of St. Coleman’s Cathedral go viral on Instagram almost every year and that alone is a good reason to visit this pretty town but to be honest, a half day tour from Cork would be enough to see Cobh…

Don’t get me wrong, I could list down 20 things to do in Cobh right from visiting the Spike Island to getting the Titanic experience in the museum but is it really worth spending an entire day? Well, check out my half day itinerary from Cork to Cobh and you can decide for yourself😊 Happy Traveling guys👫🌏✈️📸

Pro Tip: There is a direct bus (no.200) for Cobh leaving hourly from St. Patrick’s Quay, Cork and costs about 6€ per person for a return ticket.

Itinerary:
☘️ Begin you Cobh half day trip by visitng the Colorful row houses- ‘Deck of Cards’ (one of the most viral pics of Ireland) located on the West View Street.

☘️Continue following the Deck of Cards and take a left turn at the end of the houses to climb up the stairs that will lead you to the tallest Church in Ireland - St. Coleman’s Cathedral.

☘️Climb down the strairs and follow the route to the harbor where you can find a lovely town square surrounded by colorful buildings.

☘️Enter the Titanic Experience museum across the street. Learn about the last passengers who boarded the fateful ship through graphics and an audio visual tour.

☘️ Walk along the lovely promenade of the Harbor. Alternatively take a ferry to the Spike Island.

☘️ Finally, try out some delactable seafood for Lunch at one of the local restaurants before you return to Cork.
