Robbie Keane’s Ferencváros won the 2025-26 Magyar Kupa (Hungarian Cup) in dramatic style, beating Zalaegerszeg TE 1-0 after extra-time.

Ireland international Callum O’Dowda, signed by Keane last year, featured in the victory as nearly 50,000 fans watched on at Budapest’s PuskĂĄs ArĂ©na, the same venue where Troy Parrott scored a hat-trick for Ireland last November.

A temporary train station is being built in Adare, Co. Limerick ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup, with works expected to take six months and cost around €3 million. The station will help transport thousands of fans attending the event next September 🚆

Iarnród Éireann said shuttle services will run between Adare and Limerick Junction, connecting with trains from Dublin, Cork and Kerry as part of a wider public transport plan. Construction has already begun, with hopes the station could eventually become permanent.

Derry City became the first and only team to win the League of Ireland, FAI Cup and League Cup all in one season. They completed the treble by beating Cork City 1-0 in the FAI Cup Final replay at Dalymount Park on this day in 1989.

Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians also completed domestic trebles when the League of Ireland Shield served as the third major trophy. However, Derry City are the only side to achieve it with the more modern but now defunct League Cup.

Both Dalata Hotel Group All-Ireland Championship Semi-Finals will take place on Wednesday, 13th May. Kerry will take on Roscommon at Semple Stadium, while Kildare face Tyrone at a venue yet to be confirmed.⁠
