This Temple Bar favourite is named after Oliver St. John Gogarty, a poet who won bronze for Ireland in the 1924 Paris Olympics!
Until 1948, the Olympics featured arts competitions like architecture, literature, music, painting, and sculpture. Ireland claimed another medal in 1924 as artist Jack B. Yeats won silver for his painting โThe Liffey Swim,โ a capture of an event that has been in Dublin's sporting calendar since 1920 ๐จ
100 years later and as the 2024 Summer Olympics come to a close once again in Paris, we want to say huge congratulations to all the island of Ireland competitors on their phenomenal performance in this year's games ๐
