Last but not least is our final comp winner...Sean McDonnell

'I am a DJ from Dublin Ireland , DJing for just about a year and a half and have made some incredible memories for myself and people on the dance floor . I was absolutely delighted when I got asked to play for SBC as I believe you do not need substances like alcohol to enjoy the music you love and to be part of a group who plays in front of a crowd who believe that will be spectacular . I generally play House music , deep house , tech house , trance and techno , see you the 26th 😆🔜'

Say Hello to...

Charlie Dee Dublin/Laois/Louth 🙃

Music, the Sound Track to life!

"Music is a Drug" has become a bit of a cliché over time, though how very true it is. Music has always been a permanent fixture in my life since as far back as I can remember. Loosing myself into tracks, escaping the world... when I first hear Dance music back in the late 80's and early 90's, I was instantly hooked. L.A. Style, Leila K, Prodigy, SL2... repeat repeat repeat 😋 Early Rave Scene in Dublin had me mesmerised and obsessed with the art of djing, mixing one piece of plastic to another...

Late 90's I acquired my first set of turntables (belt drives lol) and got to work practicing and figuring out the art. Early 00's brought me a set of 1210's an a new drive and commitment to enter the scene... my first start was through Ken Tobin on Kiss FM after giving a demo of a remix of Sound Crowds - Ringsend. From there a prime 10-12 Saturday slot on the station. Giving me the opportunity to play such places as the Crypt Temple Threatre, Enigma Super Club after parties, joining a collective Hard Breed and running our very own nights. Since then I've played many a pirate station Kiss, Club, Club with a K lol, Heat FM, Crystal and many more.

Addiction took hold, and all seemed lost. Until now, having the opportunity to come back, in long term recovery and playing for a new collective focused solely on sober raves SRC.

All tine fav track "Underworld - Rez/Cowgirl (Everything Everything Live Album)

The next of our DJ Comp Winners!

Fionn Maguire

Why I like djing for sober beats: music is about being present, letting the rhythm move you naturally, and proving that you don’t need substances to catch a vibe. There’s something powerful in creating a space where people can connect with music—and each other—in a pure and authentic way.

Why I like djing: DJing is a form of self-expression for me. It’s not just about playing songs—it’s about curating energy, reading the room, and creating a journey through sound. I love the process of digging for unique tracks, finding unexpected blends, and building a set that tells a story.

Next up we have the first of our DJ Comp Winners!

NATHAN NEWMAN 👉

Up and coming DJ from Dublin, Ireland.

'Music has been a big part of my life since I was a child. I was always watching Carl Cox and Kerri Chandler and what they achieved.
I bought my first set of decks in may 2024 and started using them as much as I could with a little help from friends I have learned extra bits but mainly all self thought.
I was creating mixes and posting them on SoundCloud. The following October I played my first Gig.
Since then I have played in some of the best clubs in Dublin, Club 22, Soundhouse, Grand Social. I have supported some great acts on these shows. And it’s only getting better. I have traveled around Europe to the likes of Amsterdam, London, Tenerife and Ibiza. I wanted to see how music is played in other countries while been in the crowds feeling the energy in some of the best night clubs and at some of the biggest festivals in the world.
Ibiza was a big kick start for me I have been going there often since 2023. And I don’t think anywhere else matches it’s Vibe. I have played a boat party over there and I will be returning again in may 2025
I’m looking forward to play for SBC on the 26th of April. You will be in for a treat!

Catch you on the terrace!'

L💡 The First of our DJ Spotlight Series...the incredible - Laynee

Female DJ from Dublin, Ireland breaking the mould.

'With over 26 years experience I like to play mixed genre sets with melodies & interesting breaks & riffs. I have an eclectic mix of music in my collection but I generally gravitate towards the uptempo beats in new & oldskool tunes. I'm a vinyl lover so I like to mix with both digital & vinyl when the opportunity arises. I have played major venues such as Hangar, O***m, The Guinness Storehouse, The Button Factory, The Soundhouse & Wiley Fox & Berlin/Pawn Shop bar supporting 90’s legends such as 808 State, Shades Of Rhythm, Joey Beltram, Billy Nasty, Leeroy (Prodigy), Mr C, Judge Jules, Anne Savage, Capella, Danny Gould, K-Klass & Rozalla amongst others. I have played MASS festival twice & Day of the Dead festival on The Chapel stage. I also host my own monthly show called ‘Vibrations’ on Phever.ie and a weekly show on Mondays on Biggest Disco Radio called ‘Spektrum’. Currently I hold residencies with the Flashback, Re-Jen & Soberbeats collectives.'

'When I was asked to play for SBC, it felt like perfect timing for me because I was tiring of using alcohol & drugs as a social crutch. It's a work in progress but for me it's the right direction & I'm grateful to be a part of this shift in the "social norm" of clubbing.'
