Captain's Catch on Parnell Street, was served with a full Closure Order by Environmental Health Officers with the HSE on May 13th last, as inspectors uncovered a number of serious public health risks 🫣

According to the official FSAI inspection report, the takeaway exhibited a total failure to implement permanent food safety monitoring systems, presenting a significant risk to public health. As well as the following problems:

- Inspectors said that there was an absence of basic cleaning, finding hard-to-reach floor areas filthy with food debris and a greasy probe thermometer.

- Equipment was left unclean, including a food mixer bowl containing old dough-bits, while loose waste and personal clothing were found stored directly on top of food containers.

- Personal hygiene failures were also heavily cited. Staff were observed operating with no personal protective equipment, hair coverings, or hats.

- The inspection team found no anti-bacterial soap or paper towels at the staff hand-washing basin, access to which was entirely blocked.

- Serious cross-contamination hazards were highlighted in the food storage areas, where raw beef burgers were found stored directly above ready-to-eat items like cheese and turkey bacon.

- Large basins of unknown foodstuffs were left completely uncovered and unlabelled. And staff had no food handling training.

Disgraceful scene on Parnell Street. A woman in her 50s attacked. Fair play to the girl who stood up for the woman. The gaurds don't do foot patrols on Parnell Street, how come 🤔 🤷‍♂️

Sent in, if anyone has advice for this person 🤔:

My brother has been in UHL Hospital and has been denied rehabilitation because he is privately renting accommodation on the second floor. This has left our family very worried, as he needs rehabilitation to help with his recovery.

I have contacted TDs, the HSE, and every service I can think of, but I am still getting nowhere. Has anyone been in a similar situation or can offer any advice on what steps I can take next?

This is the moment a child was nearly shot and killed, in a drive-by shooting incident in Ballinacurra Weston on Friday morning, 10:23am.
Two shots were fired from a black car towards two males and a child. CCTV footage shows the bullets hit the wall, narrowly missing the child.

A new Mace store will open in the coming months at the popular Fairgreen Service Station. The owners of the shop applied for an extension to the shop, which was approved by Limerick City Council Planning Authority in 2024.
Construction has been underway the past number of weeks, to extend the store. It is hoped to be completed by June. The shop will close May 15th for 2 weeks.

William Street store announces closure, with 20% off everything sale. We shouldn't be shocked, as this shop had very little footfall. There's other sports stores in the city, we can see the same happening. Lots opt to shop online too, so that can't help things 🫤
