Every year on January 4th, the world comes together to celebrate World Braille Day, honouring the birth of Louis Braille, who developed the Braille system.
What is Braille?
Braille is a tactile reading and writing system that has transformed accessibility for people who are blind or vision impaired. Invented in 1824 by Louis Braille, this ingenious code has opened up new pathways for literacy, independence, and engagement with the world. Braille plays a very important part in empowering blind and visually impaired individuals by providing access to literacy, education, and employment.
Braille is more than a system of dots, it’s a gateway to empowerment, creativity, and connection.
