Really disappointing to see this.
We hope some sort of resolve with Cork County Council can be reached! π
It is with great disappointment that we at Boxd must announce the closure of our Midleton location due to a planning concern. This will be effective from tomorrow Monday 15th June. We do hope this is only a temporary measure.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly, nor is it one we want to make. Importantly, this closure is not due to a lack of support. The business has been fully viable and incredibly well received by the people of Midleton, clearly demonstrating the need for facilities such as ours within the town.
While the current economic climate presents challenges for many businesses, having to close a successful one is particularly difficult. Midleton is a progressive and vibrant town filled with wonderful people, and we would love nothing more than to return and serve this community again in the near future.
We have been, and will continue to be, in active engagement with the council as we work towards reopening as soon as possible. At this stage, however, it has been recommended that this course of action is necessary to ensure those discussions remain constructive and productive.
Since day one, our team has been exceptional. We are committed to doing everything possible to ensure that no jobs are lost as a result of this closure. As a Cork-born company with a passion for growing our business in the county while supporting local suppliers and businesses, this situation is deeply frustrating. Nevertheless, we remain optimistic and hope to share more positive news in the coming weeks in regards to Midleton and as we continue to invest and grow across Cork. We had planned to add up to 15 new roles within the company but unfortunately they will now be put on hold.
To everyone who has supported us, thank you. Your encouragement, loyalty, and custom have meant the world to us. We may need your support now more than ever, and we sincerely hope this is not goodbye, but simply see you again soon.
