Feeding groups of broodmares and youngsters in fields has the potential to be one of the most dangerous activities we do as horse breeders. Those of you who supplement your field kept herds, what are your safety and efficiency hacks?

Photo of my girls today. Senior mare Clarrie (in the middle) is still dominant, so she doesn’t have to worry about anyone stealing her food. The pregnant mares get theirs in nosebags to ensure they get their mins (and to prevent violence and spilled feed).
