Today 38 Ukrainian refugees arrive in Breaffy Woods Hotel, including Muslim families.

For them Castlebar Islamic Centre and Adnan Hala Shop donated food.

For Ramadan next month, the centre is going to provide food for Ifter and Sheri to all Ukrainian Muslims in Castlebar.

We urge all Muslims who are resident in Ireland (whether Irish
citizens or not) to fill the census form and tick the box marked
'Islam' in question No. 12 for all persons in your family.
When does the census take place? The 2022 census will take
place on the night of Sunday April 3, 2022.
Why should all Muslims complete the form for 2022 Census?
1. Participation in the census is compulsory, and you are obliged
by law to fill the census form.
2. We will get up to date accurate statistics on the Muslim
community in Ireland.
3. Accurate statistics will help the community seek the type of
services and facilities we need.
4. The Muslim community in Ireland will get better public and
official recognition.
Confidentiality of personal information is guaranteed, and census
is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Census Form: Your census enumerator will deliver your census
form to your home. You should keep this form in a safe place until
census day. On census day, complete the form in respect of each
person in your household, and keep until it is collected.
If your census form is not collected by 9 May 2022 send it in a
large envelope to Central Statistics Office, PO Box 2021,
FREEPOST 4726, Swords, Co. Dublin K67 D2X4.
Be counted and be a voice for yourself, your family, and your community.

The Castlebar player has created history by becoming the largest Lotto jackpot winner in the history of the game in Ireland.

The National Lottery is still waiting to hear from the jackpot winner and it continues to encourage players in the town to check their tickets.

The details of the winning store will officially be revealed on Wednesday morning.

The winning numbers for Saturday, January 15, were: 02, 09, 16, 30, 37, 40 and the bonus was 23.

As the Lotto jackpot was capped at €19.06 million, the funds from Saturday night’s draw that would usually go to the jackpot flowed down to the next highest tier at which there was a winner. The incredible ‘Will be Won’ event saw 149 winners at the Match 5 + Bonus tier who shared almost €5.5 million and they will now claim €36,687 each.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Saturday night’s Lotto draw was an incredibly exciting event which saw players in every county in Ireland win big in the draw. We are still waiting to hear from Ireland’s largest ever Lotto jackpot winner from Castlebar.

“We are urging all of our players in from Saturday night’s draw to check their tickets carefully and if you are one of the big winners, you should contact the prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or [email protected] so that arrangements can be made for your prize to be paid.”

Labour Representative mayo Kamal Uddin calls for an early decision to be made on Leaving Cert 2022

Speaking after schools returned this week, Labour Representative Kamal Uddin has called for an early decision to be made on Leaving Cert 2022, backing the call of Labour Education Spokesperson Aodhán Ó Ríordáin for a return to the hybrid model of Leaving Cert 2021.



Mr. Uddin said:



“The Minister for Education needs to make a decision on Leaving Cert 2022 soon and Labour believes that this year’s Leaving Cert must be run on the same basis as 2021.



“Final year second level students have been through a huge amount of disruption over the last two years, with rolling school closures, and significant upheaval in their learning environment because of the Covid-19 pandemic.



“These students have already missed out on a lot of in person teaching in fifth year and teacher absences due to the current omicron wave of Covid-19 are further disrupting their learning.

“The Minister for Education needs make a quick decision on the Leaving Cert and she needs to decide to run the Leaving Cert for 2022 on the same hybrid basis as last year. The Minister must accept that the education experience for students is still being negatively impacted by the pandemic and further dither and delay on this is unfair on students who have already suffered enough.

“By bringing certainty for students now, the Minister will remove any confusion for the rest of the school year by accepting again that the hybrid system of written exams and calculated grades will be needed again in 2022.

“None of us want to be in this position, but it is only fair to give students clarity now, and ensure that for the remaining school year that there is a defined path and certainty in place for Leaving Cert students.

“Returning to the old rigid exam system that was last in place in 2019 will also be a step backward when the system is in urgent need of radical reform.”

উল্লেখ্য, গত ১৪ ডিসেম্বর পাসপোর্ট, ভিসা ও এনভিআর-এর কাজে ব্যবহৃত সার্ভারটি যান্ত্রিক গোলযোগের কারণে হঠাৎ সম্পুর্ণভাবে অকার্যকর হয়ে পড়ার পর হাই কমিশন বিশেষ ব্যবস্থায় জরুরি ভিত্তিতে ঢাকাস্থ ইমিগ্রেশন ও পাসপোর্ট অধিদপ্তর থেকে সার্ভার পুন:স্থাপনের পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করে। অন্যদিকে বিকল্প ব্যবস্থায় লন্ডন হাইকমিশনে গৃহীত সকল পাসপোর্ট, ভিসা ও এনভিআর-এর আবেদন ম্যানচেস্টার ও বার্মিংহাম সহকারী হাইকমিশন হতে প্রক্রিয়াকরণপূর্বক লন্ডনস্থ হাইকমিশন হতে ডেলিভারী প্রদান করার মাধ্যমে লন্ডন মিশনের কন্সুলার সেবা প্রদান অব্যাহত রাখে।
